Saigon Farewell, April 1975

She is a Communist, joining National Liberation Front. Toward the end of the war, she tries to persuade him to defect from Army of Republic of Vietnam but fails. By contrast, he is just a private in ARVN Regional Forces. The couple breaks, leaving their bitterness and disappointment unresolved.

Two are madly enthusiastic about their ideologies, which are Nationalism and Communism. All in all, the motif is quite common in South Vietnamese society back in the war when there are conflicting thoughts within a family or a relationship.
