Lately, I’ve been feeling like a camel in a garden. Out of place. Too large, too heavy, too rough for the softness around me. It’s a strange feeling, almost ironic because on the surface everything looks calm, green, and in order, yet I walk through it carrying weight that doesn’t seem to belong there.

Sometimes I wonder if the garden represents opportunities, peace, or the comfort of others around me. And then there’s me, the camel, built for deserts and storms, for carrying burdens long distances. My strength, which is useful elsewhere, feels awkward here. Instead of blending in, I feel like I disturb the very beauty of the place.

But this is also my reality. Life has a way of putting us in spaces where our gifts don’t quite match the scenery. I remind myself that the camel doesn’t lose its value just because it stands among roses, it’s still resilient, still enduring, still able to survive what others cannot. Maybe that is the irony I have to embrace: that being “out of place” doesn’t mean being without purpose.

So yes, I do feel like a camel in a garden. But perhaps it is in this odd contrast that I am meant to see myself differently, to notice the strength I carry, even in places that don’t seem to need it, and to learn that misfit can also be a form of meaning. . . 👣 taken in Mbaise, Imo State by @munachimichaels
