We had such a lovely time meeting all the pugs and the owner Zach who is absolutely fantastic! His love for the pugs is extremely wholesome 🥹

We loved how the sessions were intimate so we spent most of the time cuddling and feeding the pugs!

Topping the session off with the Polaroid photo was such a highlight ✨

Smolbitez just made their waffles even CHEWIER with a new mochi add on 🧇

You can customise your waffle with your choice of spreads and toppings, then add fresh mochi inside for that crispy on the outside, stretchy and chewy in the middle combo 🤭

The mochi add on is usually $3, but they’re doing a $1 launch promo with any waffle purchase for the first two days at each location:

📍 Juanita Peaches, Brunswick

This might genuinely be one of the best cheeseburgers I’ve ever had 😭🍔

Juanita Peaches is such a cosy little comfort food spot in Brunswick, serving up American style favourites like burgers, popcorn chicken and poutine.

We tried:
🍔 Cheeseburger with fries
🍔 Double Cheeseburger with fries
🍗 Popcorn Chicken
🍟 Poutine
🍋 Fresh Lemmy Soda
☕ Hot Chocolate

The cheeseburgers were definitely the standout for me. Super juicy patties, soft buns, melty cheese and everything just worked so well together. Simple, classic and honestly so satisfying.

The poutine was super comforting too, and the popcorn chicken made such an easy little side to share.

A Filipino kamayan feast in Melbourne 🇵🇭🍌✨

Gertrude Events runs supper club nights centred around Filipino food, culture and community, and this one was hosted at Hap Cafe in Carlton North.

The whole table is laid out with banana leaves and a big boodle feast to share, and you eat the traditional kamayan way with your hands 🤭 It’s such a fun group dining experience, especially if you want to try a mix of Filipino dishes all at once.

Your ticket also includes dessert, with drinks available to purchase throughout the night. They try to run these supper club events regularly, so definitely keep an eye on @gertrudeevents for the next one 👀

Hidden underground Vietnamese dinner spot in the CBD 🇻🇳🍜

Saigon Square is tucked away in the basement on Lonsdale St and they’ve got different $15 dinner specials throughout the week, which is such a good option if you’re after something affordable in the city.

Depending on the day, you can get dishes like pho, bún bò Huế, noodle soups and grilled meats with broken rice for $15 each 👀 They’ve also got plenty of Vietnamese classics on the regular menu if you want to add a few sides to share.

Such an easy one to save for a casual dinner in the CBD without spending too much.

A little self serve tiramisu moment in Melbourne 🍰🎀

You grab a bowl, scoop as much tiramisu as your heart desires and pay by weight, which is honestly such a cute concept if you want to try a few flavours at once 🤭

There’s a mix of classic and more fun flavours to choose from, plus gelato and drinks if you want to make it a full little dessert stop. The space is cosy too, so it’s an easy spot for a sweet treat after dinner or a catch up with friends.

📍New Kum Den, CBD

This was such a different hotpot experience and honestly way more refreshing than we expected 🥥🍲

New Kum Den’s coconut chicken hotpot is light, naturally sweet and super comforting without feeling too heavy. We weren’t sure how everything would taste together at first, but the coconut broth, chicken and all the add ons actually went SO well together 😭

We also got to try their new bone marrow hotpot item and it was such a good addition. Super rich and buttery, especially once it soaked up some of that coconut broth 🤌

Also love that there’s no weekend surcharge, plus you can get a discount when paying by cash 👀

Just a heads up, outside food and drinks aren’t allowed inside!

📍 Mr Baxter, West Footscray

If you’re looking for tasty bagels and sangas then you definitely need to hit up Mr Baxter, a few month old cafe in Footscray.

They have a great selection of food and even specials of the month. We got to try Mr Saigon which was the bagel special and the flavours were super rich and reminded me of vietnamese food!

The drinks were also a plus. They were so rich to have and was quite addicting.

📍 Seoul Bakery Boxhill,

This has to be where i got hooked onto salt bread. I am not going to lie, most of the time i had salt bread it wasn’t anything too special but WOW Seoul Bakery does it so good!

They have a huge range of different sweet and savoury salt breads but even your usual baked goods and even cakes 🤭

I highly recommend the egg salad salt bread and even the almond salt bread. I felt like they were so addictive to eat. I am already planning my next visit although i live an hour away 🥹

TOPTEA’s new black sesame + tofu series just landed in Melbourne and this combo is sooo good if you love creamy, nutty drinks 🖤

We tried:
🖤 Tofu Milk Tea with Cheese Milk Foam $11.50
🤎 6000 Black Sesame Soy Milk Frappé $10.90

Both come loaded with tofu pudding, mini taro balls and black sesame popping pearls, so there’s literally something in every sip 😭 The black sesame one was probably my fave because it was super rich and nutty without being too sweet.

📍 QQ Chicky Pot, The Glen

Actually such a bang for buck hotpot spot because you basically get TWO meals in one 😭🍲

We got the QQ Chicken Hot Pot Set for $65 (lunch special). You start off enjoying the chicken as a stir fry first, then once you’ve eaten most of it, they add broth and it turns into hotpot so you can keep feasting after 🤌

The chicken was super flavourful and honestly the whole stir fry → hotpot situation makes the set feel so worth it, especially if you’re sharing.
