Grab your blazer and tie – it’s International Suit Up Day!Ā šŸ‘”
Ā
If there’s one thing Edvard Munch appreciated, it was a good suit. From sharp jackets and waistcoats to neatly tied neckties, his paintings feature plenty of fashionable figures.
Ā
🪔 More than a century later, the suit is still going strong, although the dress code has become a little less strict about who’s wearing it.

ā™„ļø From darkness to light. Today, on World Mental Health Day, we reflect on the courage it takes to seek help, the importance of caring for one another, and the possibility of finding hope in difficult times.

Throughout his life, Edvard Munch experienced profound loss and emotional struggles. These experiences shaped his art, where love, loneliness, anxiety and grief became recurring themes.

In 1908, following years of overwork and heavy drinking, Munch experienced a mental health crisis and sought treatment in Copenhagen. This marked a turning point in his life and art. Returning to Norway, he began creating vibrant, life-affirming works, including his monumental paintings for the University of Oslo’s Aula.

šŸŽØ Munch’s art reminds us that pain and hope, vulnerability and strength can exist side by side. His paintings continue to give expression to emotions we all experience.

šŸ“ Discover these works in Monumental, on the 6th floor at MUNCH.

🌱 This World Mental Health Day, let’s remember that no one should have to face difficult times alone. Reaching out and asking for help can make a difference.

From MUNCH Oslo, to Hamburger Kunsthalle, and now Kunsthaus Zürich. šŸ‡³šŸ‡“šŸ‡©šŸ‡ŖšŸ‡ØšŸ‡

A rare encounter between two artists continues its journey. Maria Lassnig and Edvard Munch: Flow of Paint = Flow of Life brings the Austrian artist Maria Lassnig (1919–2014) and Edvard Munch (1863–1944) together in a landmark exhibition.

šŸ–¼ļø Presented side by side, their works reveal fascinating parallels between their art and lives. Both Lassnig and Munch turned to colour as a way of expressing their inner worlds, exploring everything from grief, loneliness and fear to love, joy and desire.

Separated by generations, the two artists never met, yet their works speak to each other in unexpected ways.

Experience Munch from a new perspective, in dialogue with Lassnig.

Today we’re celebrating Katharina Grosse, who turns 65 just days after the opening of her new exhibition,Ā Black Bed, at MUNCH in Oslo, Norway.
Ā
Known for her bold approach to painting, @katharina_grosse transforms buildings, interiors, landscapes and everything in between.
Ā
Inspired by Norwegian artist Edvard Munch since her student days, Grosse connects to the emotional and psychological themes of life and death in Munch’s work and brings alive their shared preoccupations with colour, light, and the threshold dividing internal and external perception. At its heart is Black Bed, a new installation that reimagines her seminal work Das Bett (2004) and introduces black paint into her work for the first time.

ā° The clock is ticking on Munch’s sweetest exhibition.

On 11 October, we close the doors to an exhibition that brings together art, chocolate and social history.

In 1922, Edvard Munch’s large-scale paintings for the Freia chocolate factory became the first decorative artworks commissioned for a factory, and the first created for a women’s canteen.

Temporarily relocated from Freia’s headquarters to MUNCH, the works can be experienced up close alongside Munch’s preparatory sketches, archival material and related works exploring his fascination with workers, women and children.

But there’s more to the story than chocolate. šŸ« The exhibition connects Munch’s art with the history of labour, women’s emancipation and the cocoa industry, offering a glimpse into a society undergoing profound change.

šŸ‘€ Haven’t seen it yet? Now’s your chance.

Colour breaks free from the canvas:Ā Katharina Grosse – Black BedĀ opens tonight at MUNCH!
Ā
For @katharina_grosse, paint is not confined to traditional formats. Colour flows across walls, objects and architecture, dissolving boundaries and transforming entire environments into fields of painting.
Ā
At the heart of the exhibition is Black Bed, a new installation reimagining Grosse’s seminal work Das Bett (2004), in which she covered her Düsseldorf bedroom – including its furniture, clothes and belongings – in paint, transforming and ultimately destroying the space and its contents.
Ā
ForĀ Black Bed, Grosse turns to black paint for the first time, connecting the exhibition to the emotional and psychological themes of life and death in Edvard Munch’s art.
