Happy Sunday lovely peeps. Opening reception on Friday night was INSANE packed!!! 🤯😍 A HUGE TY to everyone who came out to support!! You guys are THE BEST!!! ❤️‍🔥🙏🏼❤️‍🔥 Killing 02 birds with 01 stone - This is my obligatory + occasional selfie to prove I actually exist, in the unlikely event my IG account ever gets hacked again. 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ But also celebrating that I sold a piece! 🤙🏼 I like to go into events with zero expectations, so it keeps me in check + grounded, sort of speak. I’m in it for long haul. Most blue chips have created THOUSANDS of art pieces before finding their jam. I’m no different. Susan is taking the day off for some much needed rest (since the last day of events like these are typically pretty slow), but I’ll be around for a bit so stop by and say hi. 😉 I’ll try + share more highlights from the opening reception later in the coming week. Happy Thursday lovely ppl. FYI, print issue No.30 is officially out! Many thanks once again @visualartjournal for selecting + featuring my work amongst so many other great artists. ❤️🙏🏼❤️ I’m 3 1/2 yrs into this whole “Full Time” artist gig since moving back to MIA. I think I’m doing alright so far. 😅 Being a “recovering corporate burnout” has paid off in terms of having thick elephant skin, sort of speak. 🤣 What most ppl don’t realize is how close artists can get to giving it all up due to the sheer lack of support. Wearing a business hat has its benefits, but it is a very lonely + undiscovered road too. Mostly bcz I no longer think or function like the average “employee”, but also bcz I’m still figuring out how to rebuild my self confidence back up after so many years of, “you’re doing good, BUT…” schpeal endemic to annual performance reviews. So however small + insignificant this maybe to many, it gives me just enough spark to keep going. To all of you who have + continue to support me + my work, a heartfelt TY also. Believe it or not, your likes + comments really do help the ever changing + unforgiving algorithm. And to those who don’t like or comment, TY to you as well. You’ve helped me tremendously with overcoming the ubiquitous fear of rejection. Happy Thursday lovely ppl. If you haven’t figured out by now, life is all about perspective. After moving back to MIA + losing my mom so abruptly, I made a conscious decision to see the good in ppl + life in general, and not be so bi!tch’y + doom + gloom all the time, regardless of all the crazy shenanigans all around us, 24/7. The day was gorgeous for a stroll around Wynwood so I took advantage! And this left me blown away + totally speechless! 🤯❤️ A GYNORMOUS thank you to one of the most incredibly talented human being @jcfractal for featuring me on his ARMiami2024 App! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 My AR presence is only a few blocks down from @wynwood_kollective right on NW 2nd Ave, directly across the street from @wynwood_marketplace 😍 And more than anything, I am so grateful to have done this bcz it was so out of my element. I am extremely introverted + was very nervous when JC and I met to record the video. I’ve since learned to embrace how the universe can throw things that will feel uncomfortable sometimes, but the end result can turn into something super amazing. 🤯😍 So if you happen to be in Wynwood, definitely download JC’s app and go check out not only my work, but the works of other super talented artists, including my artist friend + fellow @jdr_atelier cofounder @jessicadevreeze (who happens to be right next to me! 🥰). TGIF lovely ppl. I tried something new with myself this week. I adopted the notion of spontaneity. Gotta admit, it felt really foreign to me. Naturally, I was all over the f$&¥ng place. A hot mess, really. Not sure I can function this way but hey, I gave it a go + managed to get one concept down. 🤣 I fell in love with my friend’s antique cookie tin. It will be titled, “From Romi with Love, 2.0”. I’m still tinkering with it, but getting close. I cannot wait to tackle the AR component. Hoping to do an official drop early 2027. 🤞🏼 Dedicating this piece to my friends + former colleagues, Lorraine + Doug. RIP you two. Super grateful for the good times we had. ❤️🕊️🌸🙏🏼 by @mundodaromi

Happy Tuesday lovely ppl. OK, I feel like I got it out of my system (for the time being). Titled, “thoughts” + “opinions”, respectively. They’re not activated with AR. Going to attempt it, but given its reflective qualities, I’m not 💯 sure it’ll work. We shall see. 🤞🏼 Spent a lot of time analyzing these. But had to trust my gut that less is more. The mirrored effect is deliberate so that on lookers can see themselves distorted + unrecognizable, much like the good old “looking in the mirror” thing. As humans, we often seem to see + focus on the bad things about ourselves, instead of the good things we have to offer. Myself included. Anyone who says their life is “perfect”, are a bunch of f$&k*ng liars. 🤣 Not sure why, but these pieces make me feel extra vulnerable. But for the sake of consistency + pushing myself out of my comfort zone, here they are. Like it or hate it, this is part of my personal journey. Happy Thursday lovely ppl. A little #tbt for keepsake. I was cleaning out some of my old images and totally forgot about this deck piece I created + donated back in 2014 for a skate park fundraiser in SEA…? Maybe somewhere in Snohomish…? 🤔 Couldn’t honestly tell you bcz I was going through some major crazy toxic sh!t in the office during that period of time. All I know is that it sold, but no idea for how much. I never followed up bcz I was too busy fighting to keep my head high above water. But this was the very first time I began using my “ロミ” signature. It’s what gave me the idea to hand carve the stamp I use today. 12 yrs later, here I am. If you had told me back then that I would be living back in MIA in 2026, doing my art thing, I would’ve laughed my a$$ at how ridiculous that sounded. Goes to show you how you never know what can happen in one’s lifetime. 🤷🏻‍♀️ by @mundodaromi
