Saturday evening, I'm rolling my bike home after I had dinner with Chris, the Good Chief at @goodgrief.bike. My headphones are blasting Bombshell Rocks, the soundtrack of my youth, something I listened to a lot when I was 16 and damn do I feel like I am 16 again! I'm riding a bike that could be the BMX you saw in some music videos from punk bands in those days.
What happened? The whole week I was pushing it. The energy I soaked up during a weekend with so many like minded weirdos charged me so much and boosted me so much. Something I haven't felt like in years. Well, I am 41 now, so that's not that weird.

My life was a rollercoaster for a long time. The last 1,5 years in Berlin I moved 4 times and most of the time I lived in that city, there wasn't a house I felt at home. Last year, the week after Bespoked, I moved just around the corner from the show, to our farm and I must say, I am finally home. It always takes a bit to groove in at a new place. But I must say, I'm sliding down that groove very smoothly for a while now.

And now, a year later, I was part of that show, that circus. I feel blessed, very blessed. The days flew by, made a lot of new friends and of course saw many familiar faces. It felt good that this show has a lot of honest, passionate and hard working people that give so much without putting up a big ego show.

I feel home.

Even when an old fart starts yelling in my face without giving me the space to have a proper conversation. As he noticed that I build disk rear wheels symetrical.

I feel home.

6 years of slinging wheels, always learning new things. But one thing is for sure. The wheels I built you, will be rock solid.

Slide 1: That's me in the middle, my brother on the left and my dad on the right. It was probably 1997 and it must be the first bike trip I ever did. I was 12 and my brother 10. We rode in the Netherlands from Venlo to Harlingen with all our equipment for a long summer holiday on either Vlieland or Terschelling.

This and many other things in my youth were all small seeds planted for the passion that still keeps growing and evolving.

Looking back at the last few days doing the first bike trip with my kids, my sister and her kids, I am sure I planted one of the first seeds for a future of my kids. Whatever they choose in life it all is part of their future and I am extremely happy that we had this last week together.

One thing is sure, we'll soon do this again as they have already asked a few times.

Blessed to live so close to an amazing Natural Park with some beautiful legal camp spots in the woods.

Two wheel sets with the same specs but different looks.

When friends order the same frame and request similar wheel sets but sure have a big distinct in looks and function.

Starting with the rims. Same model but different Carbon weaving in 12k and 3K
Both Sapim CX Ray bladed spokes.
One wheel set with Industry 9 Solix hubs in purple and the other Hope Pro 5 in the beautiful smoke.

And what better way then receiving a message like this when rolling into your holiday:
"I’ve received the wheels and WOW. F… they’re amazing!! Freakin’ awesome job on these and thanks for the help with putting these together. I honestly can’t wait to finish the build when the frame arrives. "

Last wheel set is packed. Now it's time to start packing bikes for the holidays.

This is a nice high polished wheel set for René!
Velocity Cliffhangers in 28" with a machined side wall for rim brakes. Paired with Velocity standard road hubs and finished of with some high flow tubeless valves.
Yes, rim brake wheels that'll go tubeless. It's possible. In many colours!

Thanks a lot for this year so far! I'm having a blast!!

OUT OF OFFICE!

I'll be out of office from the 9th until the 27th of July.

Orders placed before the 8th on items stocked will be shipped before I leave. Non stocked Items will be forwarded should be ordered before the 8th 23:59. The next delivery from Velocity is scheduled to arrive on the first days I am back.

All orders placed from the 9th will be taken care of once I am back on the 28th and are therefore not part of the next shipment.

I will keep my email and DM's here to the very bare minimum and will get back to any messages after my return.

A big warm welcome to @curcumaxi a new cyclist on the Munro Wheels racing team.

These wheels are specked with nothing better then a set of @astralcycling Serpient X carbon rims laced to a @tuneblackforest Micro Boost in the rear and a @sonnabendynamo 28 15 110 up front.

If you want a set of reliable carbon rims for your off road ultra races, these are without a doubt one of the best rims put there. They sure are not the lightest but definitely one of the most solid ones on the market. A top notch finish on the outside and inside of the rim.

For hubs we stayed local and a big thanks to Tune for supporting Maxi with their hub.
