Just a Murdoch Mysteries fan -- I am just a fan. I’m not Yannick nor anyone else from the show.

Already excited that the January 5th episode will be the Calgary Stampede episode. Love me some Cowboy Murdoch 🥰 by @murdochsfan

😮 🤟 Went looking for Cowboy Yannick but found a show with a teenage 80s Rockstar Yannick instead! #waybackwednesday

Clip from Learning the Ropes 1988-1989. Yannick as Mark Randall singing with Richard "Ricky" Morton a professional wrestler.

In this episode Mark wanted to drop out of school to become a rockstar.

What the show was about: A teacher juggles his private school job with being a pro wrestler, while raising two kids. Yannick played Mark Randall the 17 year old son of The Masked Maniac.

Oh, it's so big. But it goes in quite easily. And reaches right into that... perfect spot. by @murdochsfan

Spoiler alert if you have not watched S20.E3 ∙ The Big Smoke.

"He put his hips into that one" 🤣

Yay! Murdoch gets to stay purdy! 🎉😂

Murdoch didn’t end up with his face rearranged but he did end up with a sore fist 😜. I had wondered if the sparing with Jack Johnson would be in the ring or in the interrogation room. I guess only one of those ever made sense 😂. I was very curious as to why and how he would spar with a heavyweight champ in the ring if it did go that route 😂. While I am glad in this case it was sparing with words and not fists I think I would still like to see Murdoch boxing. He boxed in his past so might could be worked in? Maybe he could use his new Strike-Force-Measuring Device for training instead of just as a scientific device? Murdoch could train Harry to box for fun? He could take it up just for exercise? Station house boxing competition? For charity? Seems a shame if the Strike-Force-Measuring Device didn’t get used again 😔.

Would you like to see Murdoch do some boxing?

This post is about Murdoch Mysteries S20.E3 ∙ The Big Smoke, an upcoming episode, as well as boxer Jack Johnson. Look away if you don’t want spoilers 😘

Jack Johnson (March 31, 1878 – June 10, 1946), nicknamed the “Galveston Giant,” was an American boxer who became the first African American world heavyweight boxing champion (1908–1915). He won the heavyweight championship on December 26, 1908, by knocking out Canadian boxer Tommy Burns ((born Noah Brusso) was the World Heavyweight Champion from February 23, 1906, to December 26, 1908 ) in Sydney, Australia.

Johnson had several significant connections to Canada throughout his life and career, most notably involving a championship fight against a Canadian, visits to Canadian cities, and using Canada as an escape route.

In 1912, he faced arrest for violating the Mann Act, a law aimed at combating sex trafficking.
In May 1913, Johnson was put on trial in Chicago and convicted by an all-white jury for allegedly transporting Belle Schreiber across state lines for “immoral purposes”. He was sentenced to one year and one day in prison but he escaped and fled to Canada, and then to Europe.

Returning to the United States in 1920, he turned himself in and was incarcerated in the Federal prison at Leavenworth, Kansas for eight months. He boxed a few more times after his release, but retired in 1928. He would appear in several exhibition matches, including one to raise money for the war effort in 1945.

Johnson’s post-boxing career was a cobbled-together string of jobs. He ran a restaurant, appeared in movies, fought bulls and wrestlers, wrote two memoirs, appeared with a flea circus, patented a wrench and gave lectures. He died in a car accident in 1946.

Pictures & information from various sources online. I recommend looking him up. Lots of pictures and information as well as videos of his fights including parts of his 1908 fight against Tommy Burns. It should be very interesting to see how him and his story is woven into the Murdochiverse.

The Murdoch Mysteries NYCC panel 'Suspect Everyone: A Live Murdoch Mysteries Breakdown' has been put up on YouTube!!! Yay!!!

Head over to Lawrence Brenner's channel to watch! It's on YouTube as SUSPECT EVERYONE: A LIVE MURDOCH MYSTERIES MYSTERY BREAKDOWN (18 and up) at NYCC 2026

It says "18 and up" for a reason. Gets a bit salty at times (which is hilarious 😂).

Lots of interesting things about last nights episode!😮 But skipping all that 😜. Harry calling the crossword puzzle a “word-cross” puzzle had me googling if it was really called that at first and it was! 😮 I found an article about the history of crossword puzzles that also has pix of the first one. I included pix of it. Arthur Wynne created the first one for the New York World newspaper in 1913. You can read the article and see larger versions of the pix by searching for the Smithsonian magazine article listed below. I found it neat that they used a real question from the 1st word-cross. 😊 Harry’s “trivial pursuits” really ended up paying off with Murdoch’s “trivial pursuits” 😜.

While Yannick’s pic he posted at the start of season 20 showed he was directing “2002” and the IMDb had him listed as directing this episode it turned out he did not direct this one. It was directed by Laurie Lynd. I guess the episodes did end up getting moved around. I wonder which episode number Yannick’s got moved to?

[thudding] [Margaret giggling] Everything all right, sir? 🤭

I wonder if Inspector Choi knows how many times Thomas "tripped over Margaret's stockings" in that office while he was the Inspector? 😂

HOW did I not notice this suit when watching S14.E5 ∙ Murder Checks In? 😮🤩

Joanna Syrokomla, who most of you probably already know is the costume designer for the show, commented on Murdochs Hat's The Maltese Falconers review about Murdoch's Malta hat not being new and how it was first seen in 1405 so I looked that episode up on the IMDb and that is where I found this pic from that episode which shows off the gorgeous suit he was wearing! I totally missed that in the episode! 😮 Did you notice it?

The full image which shows him and Julia and a few other high quality photos from the episode can be found on the IMDb's page for S14.E5 ∙ Murder Checks In.

Well, Murdoch was able to stay true to character in regards to digging 😂

Glad the shovel didn't go to waste and was able to aid them on their quest in other ways. Nigella REALLY put it to good use! 😂

Did we really think he was going to dig? 😜

So many great things to talk about from this episode (and all of them really)! I wish we could all see them at the same time and all get together and chat about them! 😭

Am I the only one that wants to feel Murdoch's Malta suit? I'm going to need a sample of that fabric. 😜🤣
