Saturday night, I said goodbye to the place I’ve called a second home for 15 years of my life! I am forever indebted to Heidi Knight School of Dance for acting as constant provider of community, encouragement, and joy for me. I’ve grown and learned so much about myself through dance, and I truly wouldn’t be the same without this experience.

To my mom, thank you for encouraging me each and every day to lead with the best I had. Though my passion may have been dim at times, you never stopped reminding me of the why behind what I was doing. You saw how it was shaping me in ways beyond the physical, and I am so grateful for your love and support that got me across the finish line.

All of the countless hours I’ve spent were worth every minute. I’ve gained so many intangible qualities that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. It flew by faster than I ever could’ve imagined, but I will hold onto each and every laugh, hug, and combo, as some of my fondest memories are because of this place. It was truly so much more than just dance to me. And, I gained a lifelong family! I can’t believe I’m officially an alum!

I am forever grateful for this beautiful debutante experience made possible by the incredible women of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Epsilon Gamma Omega Chapter. Five months flew by so quickly! I’ve met the sweetest friends who will always hold a special place in my heart. The ball was truly an unforgettable event filled with so much love and support.
