carpe diem

i used to count down days until i turned 18, as if that was going to change the way i viewed life. i didnt realize i needed to start living it to actually enjoy it. ive been given an opportunity to leave home, go to college, and make amazing friends.

today i am 2 years clean from self harm, which is something to be celebrated. i am also 3.5 years since my attempt and am so happy that i am here. it means so much to me being almost 20 and looking back thinking at some point i did not want to make it past 16.

i encourage people to normalize talking about struggles, getting over them, and celebrating getting through hardships. if i didnt have amazing friends and people around me, i’d be scared to be myself and be able to talk about my struggles freely. check in on your friends, take care of yourself, and if you have letters to write then you have reasons to stay. by @murphypholman
