Thank you to everyone who came to our Emerging Giants showcase yesterday. ❤️

To share a space such as @howardassemblyroom with so many incredible musicians was honestly a dream come true.

Without the huge support everyone put into this night it wouldn’t have been possible and we feel so grateful that it went so well.

Leeds has one of the most exciting and interesting music scenes in the Uk. We are so proud that we have been able to showcase people who directly inspire us and do so much good for the local scene.

We will hope to see you all again for Emerging Giants 2 taken in Howard Assembly Room by @murray_robinsonn

My composition ‘Skin’ is a reflection on certain events in my childhood and realising that these moments continue to shape you long after they’ve passed. As a teenager there were experiences that left me feeling powerless and out of my depth. To get through this time, I was forced to build what I’m calling a thick skin (kinda lol) that allowed me to keep moving forward, even when I didn’t fully understand the weight this situation carried at the time.

This song sits in a space between gratitude and grief- gratitude for the strength those experiences unknowingly carved into me, and grief for the younger version of myself who had to find resilience.

‘Skin’ was written as conversation I wish I could have with my younger self, a reminder that the headspace you want to be in is in such close reach. It’s about realising now that I would be better off without the thick skin, whilst being proud of the person I’ve become cause of it and feeling so god damn grateful for the people who engrained this resilience in me. #gofamily

Skin is through-composed and follows an array of different emotions. This melody arrives near the end of the song and portrays the bittersweet outlook on this^ as an adult. I am real proud of this writing, alongside @rubenmaric , hope ya like the tune and keep ya eyes peeled for… ALBUM :) (soz for the deep vibes here)

New song idea for you all, this one was loosely inspired from when @soothsayersband came to town.
