Just one month into the semester, we have already crossed three events off our calendars! First, we had the ice cream social with HSC, followed by the family weekend pancake breakfast with Franklin’s RCC, and last week, we had the pizza party! Introducing our very first Honors College Alumni Spotlight, Dr. Austin Coursey!

During his Ph.D., Dr. Coursey was awarded a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, which funded his research and studies.

He has worked on research projects supported by organizations including the National Science Foundation, DARPA, the U.S. Department of Transportation, and NASA. His research has explored how machine learning can help solve real-world problems involving drones, robots, traffic systems, computer networks, and learning environments.

Now that Dr. Coursey has returned to Murray State, but now as a professor, his current research focuses on making autonomous systems safer and more reliable as they encounter new situations and adapt over time.

Please don’t hesitate to say hello to Dr. Coursey as you see him around campus and at Honors College events! by @murraystatehonors
