Six weeks of dedication, perseverance, and hard work came to a close today as we celebrated our nine Summer Institute participants. These participants spent the summer immersed in MCAT preparation under the guidance of current medical students. They have been each other's biggest supporters this summer and will continue to build these relationships through medical school, residency, and as physician colleagues. We are so proud of their commitment and growth, and we can’t wait to see the next steps in their journeys toward medicine! by @musc_com

Scott C. Brandon, M.D., a third-year resident in Internal Medicine, and Joshua T. Clark, M.D., a third-year resident in Emergency Medicine, have been named Residents of the Month!Dr. Brandon’s nominator wrote, “Scott is highly deserving of Resident of the Month for his exceptional attentiveness, initiative, and genuine concern for others. During one of our busiest rotations, he noticed a student had not been showing up and took it upon himself to check in. Rather than assuming someone else would handle it, Scott reached out directly and continued to offer support. His actions demonstrate compassion, ownership, and leadership that go far beyond expectations.”Dr. Clark’s nominator wrote, “Dr. Joshua Clark demonstrated exceptional clinical judgment, leadership, and composure during the care of a critically injured trauma patient. He recognized that the external injury did not reflect the potential severity of the underlying condition and used bedside ultrasound to identify life-threatening findings in real time. His ability to quickly synthesize this information allowed the team to mobilize critical resources and expedite definitive care. Dr. Clark’s vigilance, ultrasound expertise, and decisive actions exemplify the very best qualities of an emergency medicine resident.”Congratulations to Drs. Brandon and Clark. Thank you for your dedication to helping us change what's possible for those we serve! by @musc_com
