We finally got to see Barry Anderson’s exhibition, The Janus Restraint: Polychrome Ritual, at the beautiful Museum of Art + Light in Manhattan, Kansas. Through video, photography, sound, and installation, Anderson explores spirituality and ritual as ways of reconnecting with the natural world—and with the histories, memories, and beliefs that shape how we understand our place within it.

The exhibition is immersive and meditative, weaving together vivid imagery with symbols of reverence, monuments, altars, and geological forms. I especially loved the idea of ritual not as something belonging to the past, but as an enduring human impulse—a way of creating meaning, marking time, and finding our bearings in an increasingly disconnected world. So wonderful to experience Barry’s work in person and to spend some time exploring this incredible new museum in Manhattan! taken in The Museum of Art + Light by @museumartlight

Thanks to our community for supporting this amazing kinetic artist who brought 1000s of visitors so much joy this past summer! We cannot wait to see what he dreams up next...A little trip to the seaside perhaps?

This October, step inside the Mezmereyz Galleries (MEZ) for The Museum of Art + Fright, a special limited time after-hours Halloween event featuring two very different immersive experiences.

Choose your level of fright as the MEZ transforms into Scary House in MEZ 1, a family-friendly adventure filled with playful Halloween fun, or experience Into the Dark in MEZ 2, a much more intense immersive environment built for those looking for a serious scare.

Experience one or both. Just don’t expect an ordinary night at the museum. by @museumartlight

Delighted that GENERATION TO GENERATION: CONVERSING WITH KINDRED TECHNOLOGIES, a traveling show with @nathanielstern, opens September 4 at the @museumartlight in a gorgeous, sprawling installation that takes over the entire second-floor DE-CODED gallery.

The exhibition brings together six poem-projects we’ve created collaboratively since 2021, spanning generative art, sculpture, code, found materials, and experimental publishing:

THE WORD AFTER US (@fxhash)
STILL MOVING (@artblocks_io Curated, @lumestudios)
MOTHER COMPUTER (with MetCovery Foundry in Milwaukee)
THE E-WASTE LAND (made with material from the @uwmilwaukee Surplus Program)
FERAL FONT (@feralfile + @theverseverse)
ORAL BINARY (@fxhash)

Running throughout the exhibition is Neural Network Font Type, our custom AI-developed TrueType font, which visitors can freely download, “take home,” and use themselves — extending the project into new hands, new poems, new ideas... Spoken word soundscapes throughout are by @krisbones1.

The show is accompanied by a full-color catalog/user guide/poetry collection/art book published by @vetroeditions, co-created with @lucyscribbles and designed by @thegwenknutson, featuring complete texts of all six poems alongside artwork images and essays by @reg_ha, @clairesilveraiart, @ivonatau, @lillianyvonnebertram, @ian.z.wiese and more. There is also a documentary and footage of the making of works on view, and an interactive station with educational components designed especially for younger generations of visitors.

GEN TO GEN originated at @kraslartcenter with curator @engagementfromtheperiphery, and we’re thrilled it continues to evolve from one space to the next.

Huge thanks to the extraordinary MoA+L team — @edragotto @lisacaitlin @joricheville Kristy Peterson and more — whom I’ve had the privilege of working with since the museum opened, and to @iconic.culture.io for making the intro in the first place. And to Nathaniel’s great studio team comprised of so many students who are an indelible part of this project!

GEN TO GEN runs through early 2027 with special programming this November. Can’t wait to share it with you all soon! taken in The Museum of Art + Light by @museumartlight
