Hip-hop met the orchestra, and Black culture came alive in a whole new way! 🎻🔥 Seeing Boosie and Webbie perform their classics with a live orchestra showed just how powerful, versatile and timeless our music truly is. This was more than a concert—it was a whole cultural experience! 💚HUGE shout out to Vandell Andrew for setting the stage ✨

When a parent loses a child suddenly, grief is not only emotional—it is neurological and physical.

The brain and nervous system can become trapped in survival mode, causing memory loss, brain fog, anxiety, exhaustion, numbness, disrupted sleep, and difficulty completing even simple tasks. Extreme emotional stress can even affect the heart, causing a real medical condition known as Broken Heart Syndrome, or Takotsubo cardiomyopathy.

All grief is painful, but the loss of a child is not the same as losing a parent, a friend, or another loved one. A parent is forced to live beyond the life they brought into this world—a future, identity, and natural order shattered all at once. It is a distinct kind of grief that should never be compared, rushed, or minimized.

We smile. We show up. We find a way to continue moving forward with our lives—all while learning how to live with the emptiness our children left behind.

My song “Metronome” was written about this very experience: continuing to live with a broken heart, one beat at a time.

Please extend patience and compassion to grieving parents. There is no “getting over it.” There is only learning, moment by moment, how to carry the love, the memories, and the pain together. 💚

Day 3—the Riverfront Jazz Festival finale! 🎷✨ The food was flavoring, the artistry was giving LIFE, and the music was feeding my soul!

It was beautiful watching the young artists find their footing along the path paved by the veteran performers—honoring the legacy while creating one of their own. 💚

I averaged about 30,000 steps over three days, so comfortable shoes made for walking were absolutely necessary! 👟😂 What an incredible weekend linking up with so many old and new friends—I can’t wait until next year!
