BIG NEWS here at Clearly Music Services!

We’re excited to officially announce our expansion with the addition of renowned music supervisor Mike Turner who has joined the Clearly Music team as a full-time partner and music supervisor.

Additionally, long-time Clearly Music team member Caleb McFadden has been elevated to the role of associate music supervisor.

We’re VERY excited for the future of the business and are so grateful for our amazing clients and partners whose support have allowed us to scale our vision and expand our offering.

Big week for announcements from me but, one more and then I’ll shut up for a bit. Stoked to be invited to join The @recordingacademy this year as a professional voting member!

FINALLY they have someone with absolutely impeccable taste voting for what deserves a Grammy. KIDDING (about others not having good taste. Not about me having good taste. That part is true).

I’m excited to have new channels available where I can help impact meaningful change within an industry that’s given me so much. I’m very grateful for the opportunity!

So pumped to announce that I’ve been elected as the President of the @cacopyrightconference for the 2026-2027 term!

As many know, I’ve been working with the organization for quite some time and am passionate about the work that we do within’ the music industry. Thanks to everyone who elected me and is trusting me to steer the ship for the year!

Congrats to the newly elected board and the executive committee. So grateful I will have @brockwoman (VP), Ali Guzman (Treasurer), @moderntuba (Secretary), and @sycadelic98 (Ass. Secretary) by my side. Also a massive shout out to @lizredwing who keeps the day to day afloat!

HOW DO SOUNDTRACK ALBUMS GET MADE?

In this installment of “Clearly Musings” (yeah, that’s what we call these now), we do a deep dive in to how a soundtrack is navigated, cleared, who makes money, production costs, and what a profit realistically looks like! We also dig a little in to the rise and fall of the soundtrack market.

Our instinct is that this will be a helpful resource not only for film makers but even veteran music supervisors who silently wish they knew more about it! Enjoy 🎶

Welp, last night was super super cool!

We’ve noticed that there’s a lot of confusion around what a Music Supervisor does so we wrote an article to explain the nuts and bolts of what a Music Supervisor ACTUALLY does in an article called “What a Music Supervisor Actually Does” - Great title, huh? I know, it’s genius.

Couple more things to clarify that we see often:

If someone is representing your music for synch opportunities, that job function is not called “music supervision.” That’s a synch agent of some sort. They pitch your music to a Music Supervisor or the production.

The Music Supervisor also doesn’t participate in a percentage of the licensing fee for a song. We’re paid by the production who hired us for our services.
