Music Moves is helping young artists grow together through music. 💜🎶

What started as Soul Camp has grown into something so much bigger.

More than a camp.
More than a band.
This is Music Moves in action.

Yesterday, we had the opportunity to attend the 4th Annual Belonging Summit at the Walmart Home Office.

Keynote speaker Jennifer Wallace shared a powerful message about mattering and challenged us to think beyond simply creating spaces where people belong.

One thought really stuck with me:

Belonging says you have a ticket to get on the boat. Mattering says you get a say in where the boat is going.

That’s a powerful distinction, and one that connects deeply with the work we do at Music Moves. It’s not enough for people, especially young people, to simply be included. They need to know their voice, gifts, ideas, and presence have value.

Jennifer left us with a simple challenge: Before you go to bed, take a few minutes to think about the moments throughout your day when you helped someone know that they matter.

When you begin to recognize those moments, you may also begin to realize just how much you matter, too.
