• I haven’t had much time to cook up posts lately but these the typa vibes I been on throughout the week. Don Toliver has been sneakily climbing my all time favorite artist rankings, I can’t stress enough how much I loved his newest album, he was in a different mode fr. Also yall peep the upgraded editing skills? I realized I could remove backgrounds from photos I paste in CapCut which makes it way easier for me to edit these typa posts from now on

How I Feel When I Listen To “Sunday Morning” by Maroon 5:

I love this song so much mane, something about it reaches a part of my brain so deep it literally cancels out any other thoughts I have and just takes over my mind, so much so that I genuinely can’t think of any other song I would put above Sunday Morning, it’s literally my favorite song ever. Maybe nostalgia plays a part in why I love this song so much but I feel like it’s really just that good, like if you listen to this song and don’t feel like walking in the sun with a smile on your face are you really even human? That is a question for a man much wiser than I am, but long story short I fuckin love this song yall

Some of My Favorite Song Climaxes:

1. All I Wanted — Paramore
2. Sex on Fire — Kings of Leon
3. TORE UP — Don Toliver
4. Heaven and Hell — Kanye West
5. When You Were Young — The Killers
6. Over My Head (Cable Car) — The Fray
7. Chasing Pavements — Adele
_______________________________________________

I love me a good buildup and climax in music, it’s the part of the song where everything clicks, the production opens up, the vocals peak, and the entire song’s energy shifts. A good song climax isn’t just a sound, it’s a feeling/release. It’s the kind of moment that will get stuck on this in your head whether you want it to or not, and this post is made up of just a few of my personal favorite song peaks, specifically “sex on fire”, which I hadnt listened to in a while and man did it remind me how good that song is, I haven’t been able to get that chorus out of my head so my only option was to make a post and get it stuck in your head too💀

• Mac Miller may be one of the most underrated live performers ever, he so effortlessly brings his music to life on stage and it’s always such a vibe. This performance in particular is from a 2016 tv special Mac did that recently got released in full on YouTube for the 10th anniversary of The Divine Feminine album, and I think its my favorite performance of his ever, genuinely every song makes me feel like im right there in the crowd vibing out and singing along with him. I highly recommend yall go watch the full video on his YouTube channel because it includes snippets of Mac talking about his music and his process and I thought it was really beautiful to see his thought process as he makes music and how much he really loved doing it. I don’t know if we’ll ever get another artist like Mac Miller in this lifetime, may he rest in peace ❤️🕊️

Snippet Syndrome 2:

1. Sunday Morning — Maroon 5
2. São Paulo — The Weeknd, Anitta
3. Deceptacon — Le Tigre
4. Late Night Talking — Harry Styles
5. Love Lost — Mac Miller, The Temper Trap
6. Spinning — Winyah

• “Snippet Syndrome” is a term I use to describe when you can’t get a specific part of a song out of your head, which isn’t a bad thing by any means, it just means the song is that good. It can definitely get annoying though when something loops in your head that many times though, you just gotta find an outlet to beat the snippet syndrome. For me, making a post about the songs helps me move on and make room for other songs in my head if that makes any sense lol. These are some of the songs I haven’t been able to get out of my head lately:

Mac Demarco Performs ‘No Other Heart’ on a Boat:

• In this episode of NPR Music Field Recordings, Mac Demarco goes on his boat he bought as a gift for himself to cope with the “birthday blues” and gives a bare bones performance of his song ‘No Other Heart’. I really love this video because it’s just so down to earth and unique, like he’s just chillin on the water playin music, the vibes are immaculate.

J. Cole & Daniel Caesar Perform “FRIENDS” Together at the 2018 BET Awards:

• I was trying to find this J. Cole and Daniel Caesar performance on YouTube but for some reason it got scrubbed off the app, I had to screen record a post on X which had the performance, so mb if the video quality is bad but man, this has gotta be one of my favorite J. Cole performances, both he and Daniel Caesar went crazy, like the transitions between both of their verses is next level, I wish we could get more collabs from these two.

• J. Cole will always be on my Mount Rushmore tho bc he uses his influence to try and raise up his community around him, and I have no doubt his music has inspired thousands if not more to start bettering themselves, it’s always refreshing when artists use their platform to try and create a positive impact on those who listen. Shoutout J Cole, you always gonna be one of my goats 🔥

While I was making this post today I was thinking about what I would give for just 1 more peak maroon 5 album and honestly there isn’t much that I wouldn’t give for another M5 album on the same level as songs about jane/IWBSBL/hands all over/overexposed, everything they’ve released since then just hasn’t been on the same level. They’re still my goats though, those 4 albums are more than enough to keep maroon 5 near the top of my all time favorite list all these years later, they’ll always be a constant in my rotation 💯

Song of the Day: “Headlock” by Imogen Heap

• Imogen Heap is so talented mane, a lot of people don’t realize she’s dropped so many songs that became a massive part of pop culture throughout the years and on top of that shes literally an inventor too, like she came up with the idea for Mimu gloves because she wanted a way to control music through hand gestures to be more expressive when performing electronic music live so she teamed up with a bunch of engineers and researchers to bring the idea to life. Even though she’s pretty popular I feel like she still doesn’t get the recognition she deserves, so shoutout Imogen Heap, generational talent right there 🔥

Tame Impala’s Tiny Desk Performance:

1-2: Borderline
3-4: Dracula
5-6: New Person, Same Old Mistakes
7-8: Loser
_______________________________________________

One of my favorite things about Tiny Desk is how they force artists to strip away all the bells and whistles and really get down to the core of the music, so when I saw that Kevin Parker (Tame Impala) did a tiny desk concert, I was super interested to see how his would sound because his music is normally packed with so many layers and technical effects that would be hard to replicate in a more grounded tiny desk setting. Despite this, they were still able to recreate the same magic Tame Impala normally has, I was very impressed with how well he adapted his music to the tiny desk format, Kevin Parker is just so talented mane 🔥
