🦋 FINANCIAL TRANSPARENCY POST 🦋

images contain the following text:
image 1: please note that the organizer (starka) is privileged to have capacity to pay out of pocket to finance the 7/7/24 event, but future events will need to be much closer to financially net neutral for mutualism to be sustainable

image 2:
expenses
djs = $525 + $500 + $0 (starka)
hosts = $150 + $100
graphic design package = $425
photography = $300
total expenses = $2000

image 3:
income
bar sales payout = $150
donations = $235
total = $385
net
$385 - $2000 = -$1615 (paid out
of organizer’s pocket)

image 4:
VENUE SUGGESTIONS? (please message or comment below!)
with a mask requirement necessarily reducing drinking and eating indoors and thereby inhibiting bar sales, mutualism is interested in partnering with venues that are values aligned and can do ticket sales (ideally sliding scale) to build out recurring covid safer dance spaces

the venue should be wheelchair accessible and have staff willing to mask, ideally with great indoor ventilation, connected outdoor space, and proximity to public transit

in the meantime, if you would like to help cover venue and/or event organizer expenses, please shop and/or donate below:

for info on ventilation in the indoor event space (important to help mitigate the risk of infection from aerosolized pathogens), here’s the CO2 reading for MUTUALISM at @whistlerchicago on 7/7/24! the Aranet CO2 monitor sat by the DJ booth for the whole party (6pm-midnight). we had the back door open to the patio for the whole event and opened the front door to the outdoors around 7pm (6pm) start. masks were required indoors and 2 SmarterHEPA XL purifiers were running on high, greatly adding to the safety of the event, but these do not impact CO2 levels. any CO2 reading in the space was basically measuring a combination of exhaled CO2 from humans in the space and the space’s ventilation (from its HVAC system and openings to the outdoors). if you’d like to do something similar for your event space, @clean.air.club has CO2 monitors in its lending library and is collecting data on the ventilation of indoor event spaces. dm this page for more info on that!

for more info on CO2 as a ventilation proxy, see below:

“CO2 is co-exhaled with aerosols containing SARS-CoV-2 by COVID-19-infected people and can be used as a proxy of SARS-CoV-2 concentrations indoors. Indoor CO2 measurements by low-cost sensors hold promise for mass monitoring of indoor aerosol transmission risk for COVID-19 and other respiratory diseases… The relative infection risk in a given environment scales with excess CO2 level, and thus, keeping CO2 as low as feasible in a space allows optimization of the protection provided by ventilation.”
