✨ The second edition of Beyond the White Coat is officially here! ✨

Dear MU-WCOM Community,

We are thrilled to announce the official release of the second edition of Beyond the White Coat! This issue reflects the dedication and curiosity of our student body as MU-WCOM continues to expand its research presence and scholarly impact. 🩺🔬

This edition marks an exciting step forward by featuring a diverse collection of case studies highlighting unique patient encounters experienced by MU-WCOM students. Alongside these case studies, we are proud to showcase an extensive selection of original artwork produced by students, celebrating the intersection of medicine and creative expression.

This publication would not be possible without the generous guidance and support of our faculty advisors, Dr. Fuchs and Dr. DeSmet. We also extend our deepest appreciation to our editorial board for their tireless commitment to reviewing, designing, and producing this issue. Most of all, we want to express our gratitude to our student authors and artists, whose initiative, dedication, and high-quality submissions form the heart of this journal. We also thank Dean of the Wood College of Osteopathic Medicine, Amanda Wright, DO and President of Marian University, Daniel Elsener for supporting the important efforts of this journal, which is helping to expand research opportunities.

Excited to share that our lab has been awarded an NIH R21 grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases to study HPV E2 methylation and its role in the viral lifecycle. @muwcom_bms @muwcomindy @marianuniversity

This project will help us better understand how lysine methylation regulates HPV biology and may uncover new mechanisms involved in viral replication and persistence.

Grateful for the support from the NIH and excited for the science ahead!
