Congratulations to @carson.albert_09 on his commitment to @rhodescollegebsb!

Carson is a senior leader with a relentless work ethic that has allowed him to be a dominant force on the diamond since his sophomore year. We’re excited to see him continue to compete, grow, and find success as he begins his career as a Lynx!

We’re kicking off “Foundational Friday” which is a series that celebrates the people who have contributed to the success of the MV baseball program by giving their time to impact our team and community.

First up, someone who has had a significant impact on the Mount Vernon community as a student-athlete.

Tres holds a special place in our school history as the FIRST professional athlete to graduate from Mount Vernon.

At Mount Vernon, Tres was a:
• 3X First-Team All-Region selection
• 3X First-Team All-State selection
• 3X Region Player of the Year (Sophomore-Senior)
• 2X MLB Draft Pick (LA Dodgers 2019 & Pittsburgh Pirates 2022)

He also helped lead the Mustangs to a 16 game winning streak and a Sweet 16 appearance as a senior. Tres then took his talents to Ga Tech.

At Ga Tech Tres continued to thrive academically and athletically becoming a team captain as well as:

• 3X Dean’s List honors
• Academic All-ACC Team
• Bobby Dodd Academic Scholarship
• All ACC Second Team
• Pittsburgh Pirates 5th round MLB Draft Pick

From Mount Vernon —> Georgia Tech —> professional baseball, Tres’ journey represents so much of what we hope to instill in our student-athletes: Commitment, Consistency, and Competitiveness in the pursuit of excellence.

Today, we celebrate Tres Gonzalez — a Mustang who helped pave the way for those who came after him.

Another great Middle School tryout in the books! We challenged these guys to start with questions, and learn as much as they possibly could over 2 days. They absolutely understood the assignment! The growth shown will benefit the entire program moving forward.

Huge shoutout to our Varsity guys who volunteered their time to help guide and develop the next generation of mustangs. Your leadership sets the Standard!
