From @stuartcroftfoundation at @leedsartgallery and Surreal Landscapes at @hepworthwakefield to @luiz_roque at @kwinstitutefcontemporaryart and @mike_kelley_foundation at @tate — not to forget an eye-opening visit to @sng_gallery — we saw some inspiring and invigorating exhibitions this year. Many of them were accompanied by beautiful publications, a few of which we added to our collection, and as of just now the MV-B Recommended Reading List.

Just a handful of the books featured on the new and regularly updated MV-B Recommended Reading List. Our first exhibition, A Currency of Intimacy, closed a week ago, and after a much-needed posting break we are here to say a huge thank you to everyone that visited the exhibition, talked about, shared it, told their friends about, attended our events, bought a drink, helped bring it to life or did absolutely anything else to show their support.

There are a few extra special thank yous that feel important to say here:

Thank you Sophia and the team behind @salonammoritzplatz for providing us with the beautiful space to realise the vision for the show. The space served as wonderfully poetic inspiration for the curation and hosted some truly memorable moments.

Gratitude as always to @lucydilla and @madremezcal for their generous sponsorship and continually backing this group of creatives, and thank you to our other sponsor @stickerapp for the amazing stickers.

Big thanks to @dittmar for translating words and intention into something visual and physical in the form of printed and digital design materials — it was such a joy to work together for the first time.

Thank you to @penguinrandomhouse, @thewhitepube and @bookbot.de for getting behind the first ever Berlin Art Book Club and helping to make it extra special.

Thanks to @blakehattie for her exceptional and generous photography of the exhibition, and thank you @mauricioalonso and @mezdumas for always showing up and knowing exactly how to help.

Thank you @gramrcy for believing in this project from the very start, and for bringing good music and great vibes to the opening.

The biggest thank you of all goes to the artists — @mariecloppenburg, @workyflakes, @michaeljose, @ggaleanob, @nobodyputsbabyinthec0rner, @alexanderbenjamin, @blakehattie — without whom there would be no work to show, and who physically put this show together and took it down again. taken in Salon am Moritzplatz by @mvb.berlin

Join us tomorrow for the first ever Berlin Art Book Club!

From 19.00 at @salonammoritzplatz, come together with @millyburroughs2.0 and an intimate group of likeminded art, photography and book lovers to discuss recommended creative texts and more.

Unlike traditional book clubs, you’re not expected to come having already read any of the books and texts we will discuss.

Simply come with an open mind and sense of creative curiosity and look forward to discovering essential and lesser known writings from a diverse range of voices that have inspired and dissected art and artistic practice throughout the 20th and 21st centuries.

For your reading pleasure and discussion during the event, attendees will receive a goodie bag including:

- A hardback copy of new book Poor Artists, written by @thewhitepube co-founders Gabrielle de la Puente and Zarina Muhammad

- An exclusive curated reading list of more than 40 art and design-focused books, texts, articles and essays, as recommended by creative people from around the world

- Stickers, bookmarks, posters and other goodies from @bookbot.de and @mvb.berlin

Attendance is limited to 20 places, and tickets are priced at 22€ per person, with proceeds to be donated to Berlin-based homeless support charity @risefoundationberlin

Head to the link in our bio to get yours now, there are only a handful left!

A preview of what is likely to be the most personal and intimate body of work he will ever produce, the images photographer @michaeljose is set to showcase as part of 𝘈 𝘊𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘤𝘺 are taken from his upcoming book Motherland. Personal, vulnerable and shot from the heart, the book comprises a mixture of photography, diary entries and poems from and about his early-2024 return to his motherland of Colombia, where he journeyed in search of his roots, his meaning in life and his mother.

Born in Colombia and raised in Denmark, José harnesses a blend of digital and analogue photography to document life as he sees it. Currently based in Berlin, he is committed to capturing the breadth of human experience — from the beautiful to the benign and everything that sits between.

Join MV-B at @salonammoritzplatz this Tuesday 19th November from 18.00 to celebrate the opening of 𝘈 𝘊𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘤𝘺 — a group exhibition of fine art and photography from seven Berlin-based creatives, that will be on display until 1st December.

Check out our pinned posts and links in our bio for all the details.
