Congratulations to Chris McHugh on being selected by the San Diego Padres with the 335th pick in the 11th round of the 2026 MLB Draft. The first ever player to join MVP when we decided to create the program in Fall of 2022, Chris made an immediate impact. It’s been an honor and a pleasure to watch the 8 year old I once knew grow into the man and player he has become. There is no telling this guy he can’t do something and that relentless attitude along with his work ethic separates him from everyone else!

Congratulations to MVP NY 2026 RHP Aidan Cochrane on signing a professional contract with the San Diego Padres. The hard throwing righty was committed to play college ball at UCONN but made the decision to start his professional career after getting the call from the Padres. We couldn’t be happier for one of the most competitive and gifted arms to ever come through our program!

Gavin Weiss, MVP NY 2028/Massapequa HS, has committed to Division I Hofstra University!
.
The toolsy, switch hitting infielder has been up to 93 across the diamond, with some of the best footwork & glove work around. The glove plays right now at the next level. 6’0, 170lbs with room to grow, Weiss will continue to get better on both sides of the ball. One of the hardest workers that we have in the organization!
.
Congratulations to Gavin and his family!

Hofstra University '32
I am extremely blessed to announce my commitment at Hofstra University to continue my baseball and academic career. First off I would like to thank my family for being behind me from the very beginning, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without their love and support. Thank you, Mom, Dad, Hayleigh, Kaycee, and Makenzie, for joining me at all my tournaments, making countless sacrifices, and always being my biggest supporters. I’m so grateful to have you by my side through every step of this journey. I couldn’t have done it without you!
I also want to thank all of the coaches who have been a part of my journey along the way. Coach Mitchell, thank you for challenging me and continuing to be a great mentor, providing me with such valuable guidance and support. To Coach Jon, my original Coast family, and the Massapequa Cyclones Organization; Coach Rob and the Dreamchasers; Coach Juan for helping me with hitting, fielding, and my work ethic, Coach Adonis, Onix Salva for helping me get faster and stronger, Coach Jovon Edwards and IS elite, and Coach Phil for helping me all time; my Massapequa High School coaches, Coach Sheedy and Coach Caf; and my MVP coaches, Coach Hortsman and Coach Hickey — thank you all for the time, knowledge, support, and dedication you’ve given me throughout my baseball journey. Each of you has played a part in helping me grow as both a player and a person, and I’m grateful for everything you’ve done for me.
A special thank-you to Pete Kritikos and MVP for all of your support throughout this process and for helping me navigate this exciting next chapter.
I would also like to thank Coach Catalanotto, Coach Rojas, Coach Battaglia, Coach Goelz, Coach Pelcher, and the rest of the Hofstra Baseball coaching staff for believing in me and giving me this incredible opportunity. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Hofstra family and can’t wait to get to work, learn from the staff, and compete alongside my future teammates.
I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who has helped me along the way. This is just the beginning, and I’m ready to embrace this next chapter and represent Hofstra University with pride!

🚨COMMITMENT ALERT🚨

OF/1B/P Matt LaSpina (Mepham HS) commits to Hood College to continue his academic and athletic career!

Another new addition to MVP South Shore this summer looking for real recruiting opportunities, Matt quickly established himself as a game-changing player who made an immediate impact on our program. Offensively, Matt is a consistent line-drive hitter who sprays the ball to all fields, with an impressive ability to make adjustments at the plate. Defensively, he is a plus defender with great instincts and versatility across multiple positions.

On the mound, Matt has overcome Tommy John surgery and worked his way back to running his fastball into the mid-80s while showing great command of his off-speed pitches.

What truly separates Matt is his passion for baseball and his incredible work ethic. He constantly looks for ways to improve and puts in the work necessary to take his game to the next level. His dedication, versatility, and love for the game made him a huge part of our team’s success this year.

Congratulations to Matt and his entire family!
