Shout out to Exhibit Coordinator Kailey Aman Diaz @artcentercc

She took pictures of my 3 orchid paintings hanging in the gallery for the center’s group show Flores y Tierra so I could have them for my portfolio.

The show closed yesterday, and I’m honored a few paintings in my orchid series were included! taken in Art Center of Corpus Christi by @mvsingh__

Here are my two paintings hung up @ten20_artgallery for their Culture, Canvas, & Couture group show!!

May is AAPI Month and in honor of that, this show features all South Asian artists!!

Opening night was last night in Dallas 😎

100 Heads Challenge

Numbers 34, 35, 36 & 37

After not painting for almost two weeks, it’s been nice to return to this challenge with an easier painting set up. I decided to paint some men today, which I really don’t do quite often, so that was a nice change of pace by @mvsingh__

Numbers 30, 31, 32 & 33

These all came together fairly quickly tonight. I was able to use my new dry gouache palette and I love painting with basically my whole gouache collection in one easy, portable container. by @mvsingh__

Hey folks 👋🏼 New heads in the 100 Heads Challenge coming soon. Mama’s been busy lately and picked up an extra shift at the library.

100 Heads Challenge

Numbers 26, 27, 28 & 29

I’ve been adjusting to a new work schedule, but I’m still carving away at this challenge! We’re almost 30 heads in!

I set up a new folio palette I got on Etsy, and I’m using gouache in its dry form instead of straight out of the tube which makes life so much easier.

Portraits in full color have been getting easier too now that I look at color in terms of value. by @mvsingh__

We’re officially a quarter of the way through this challenge 🥳

These all came together fairly quickly and were enjoyable to do.

Numbers 21 & 22

I worked on the first head in turquoise before my shift started, and then I worked on the head done in yellow-orange this evening.

I’m taking my time with this challenge, and enjoying the ride. by @mvsingh__

100 Heads Challenge

Heads # 19 & 20

I painted these late last night and they both came together fairly quickly.

I enjoy painting braids now that I’ve gotten the hang of it and they look a little less rough than my previous attempts.

Palette was Viridian/Cobalt Blue and White. by @mvsingh__

I haven’t formally announced this yet, buuut:

I’m in the middle of doing the 100 Heads Challenge!

These are numbers 15 & 16 respectively.

I’m trying to paint folks with darker skin tones too because colorism is such a pervasive issue.

I was inspired by the artist Emily Hughes to pursue this challenge so I could grow as a gouache painter.

So far I’ve been enjoying it! by @mvsingh__

This took a bit to come together last night, but I’m thrilled with how it started turning out once it did 😍

The palette for this head study in gouache was Ultramarine Light, Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre, Vermilion, Naples Yellow Light, Viridian and White. by @mvsingh__
