let’s talk about the MASK!! 👺 this Spanish inspired bull mask represents the Minotaur in the Greek myth of the labyrinth. Created with paper maiche, painted, and the nose rings are my old hoops, last minute addition but I think really drives the bull imagery 🤭

Originally made for another project, he is a misunderstood creature. I think of him like the dark center of the labyrinth, but also the protector of YOUR center. You create him through also insecurity and self sabotage, and reach him with excess and gluttony, “all I do is drink, and all I do is think.” He has a seductive aura, like the underworld taunting you to stay, eat more, drink more, but ultimately you cannot stay in the dark, no matter how comforted and complacent you may feel having this protector by your side. To move past the obstacle of the Minotaur, you have to accept him and let him go, to go vulnerable into the labyrinth to search for the light.

at the center of the labyrinth, the MINOTAUR. deep dark parts of yourself you need to confront, monstrous and intoxicating, it seduces you.

swipe for the concept art sketches 🧵🪉 when you’re lost in the labyrinth, trying to find your way to the center, you push and pull and prod at your knots. it can be painful, or emotional, but always a mix of tension and release.

BEHIND THE SCENES ☀️ you can hear @kennyseesit and Kund. geeking in the background because we all simultaneously entered a trance when creating this set. my original set idea just included the table, chalice, and guitar, so we set off, we barely spoke just hanging string and setting up lighting with no real plan, then KENNY found the Sun prop in the garage at the very last second and we stepped back to look at what the hell we just did☀️🙏🏽 shoutout to my partners in crime, dream team ☺️
