This is the sixth photo in my black and white recreation series, inspired by the portrait of Sabrina Doberstein by Matthias Genske and his bold, sculpted lighting. I wanted to recreate that controlled contrast and see how the shadows would shape the mood in my own version. Shot at 1/160, ISO 800, f/6.3 with one flash. taken in Waterloo, Ontario by @mw.framed

Fifth image from my black and white recreation series. This one is inspired by contemporary photographer David Galstyan. The original carried a quiet heaviness, and while I don’t think I fully captured that, I wasn’t sure how to shape my expression to convincingly show sadness. That being said, this series is more about exploring lighting and the essence of an image than exact facial expressions, though I might revisit this shot in the future for a more accurate recreation. The photo was taken at f14, 1 second shutter speed, ISO 800, with one flash and a SmallRig P96L as the main light. taken in Waterloo, Ontario by @mw.framed

In Canada, people can't afford housing, food, or basic living, yet we are told school is the only path to a future. For decades now, one of the lifelines for students is OSAP, but Doug Ford is cutting it at a time where it is already basically impossible for students to exist. So please, if you live in Ontario, Canada, contact your MP. The more people that speak up, the higher chance for change. If you think someone else will do it, nothing will get done. We need everyone to act, otherwise it amounts to nothing.

In Canada, people can’t afford housing, food, or even basic living, yet we’ve been told our whole lives that school is the only path to a future. Many of us, including myself, have worked tirelessly for degrees in fields like engineering, dreaming of stability and opportunity. But Doug Ford is cutting OSAP, the one lifeline students have. At a time when unemployment is at a record high, housing is unaffordable, and the middle class is shrinking. Instead of supporting the people, he’s making it easier for himself while making it nearly impossible for next generation to survive and build a future in this country.
