Congratulations to former Athletic Director and Head Coach Ron Montalto on being named one of the inductees to Monroe-Woodbury’s Hall of Distinction for the Class of 2026!

During his tenure, Coach Montalto recorded over 250 wins, won six section championships, and was named Coach of the Year 12 times.

Beyond the accolades, he created a culture of discipline and selflessness. He was deeply invested in each of his players and prioritized teaching character as much as competition.

Coach Montalto will be honored in front of family, friends, and former colleagues at the Hall of Distinction Induction Ceremony on Thursday, October 26th, 2026 at MWHS. by @mwbball_

Also congratulations to senior Kristopher Bjaelker on being named Honorable Mention.

We are proud of both of you guys!

We fall to Kingston in the Section IX Class AAA Semifinals tonight, 50-36.

After losing our 5th consecutive game and dropping to 5-10 overall, most people were ready to throw dirt on our season. Making the playoffs has become a standard here and we were in serious jeopardy of not living up to it.

But rather than buy into the narrative that we are not a playoff caliber team, we came together, winning 4 of our last 5 games, including big wins on the road at Kingston and home to Pine Bush and NFA to clinch a spot in the playoffs for the 5th consecutive year.

The resolve that our guys showed this year was special. With so many opportunities to give up, we never did. We earned the right to play tonight and the result doesn’t take away anything this team has accomplished.

Thank you to all of our players for upholding the standard that others have set before you. Thank you to our seniors for everything they have given to our program while they have been a part of it. Although the ending wasn’t what we wanted, it’s the fight while our backs were against the wall that I’ll remember most.

Another NEW PAIL winner! 🪣

Congratulations to junior, Daniel Omitiran on taking home the award this week, the first of his career.

Daniel is an example of hard work meeting opportunity. He has spent most of the year working behind the scenes, and when his moment finally arrived, he has made it count. As a true spark plug off the bench, he brings high-IQ play and a level of energy that changes the game every time he steps on the floor.

Beyond his time on the court, Daniel is the ultimate teammate. He is always invested in the team’s success, cheering on his teammates and celebrating their success as if it were his own.

Great job, Daniel!
