Now when there are friends and colleagues in town, we know where to go, and sometimes those friends make great photos! Dr. Dora Imhof made this one, in front of Mark Bredford‘s monumental work „City of the Big Shoulders“, me in conversation with Prof. Emily Scott from Oregon. #obamacenter #markbredford by @mwidrich

Beautiful Vienna, flowers and sunsets and always a bit of fascism in the middle. #augarten #fascistarchitecture by @mwidrich

While outrageous monumental structures are going up in Washington DC, Erika Doss and I finally saw our article on the problematic statues on Michigan Avenue come out. It took four years and a research trip to Croatia, and we had almost given up hope. Find it in the Oxford Art Journal or dm me if you can’t get it through your library! by @mwidrich

We made it to the Obama Center and Museum the day a tornado moved through Chicago! Still, we were impressed: Sky Room by Idris Kahn, detail of Nick Cave and Marie Watt’s textile-installation, us running things. #obamacenter #chicago by @mwidrich

48 hours in Venice: Andrei didn’t let go of our shared (!) baby (Japanese Pavilion); Entrance message at the Arsenale; Nick Cave; Laurie Anderson; Wangechi Mutu; Amanda Heng; Walid Raad searching for Arafat’s bedrooms; Mohammed Joha (last two in the main pavilion). Then view from Redentore, the bridge that only appears for one day a year during La Festa del Redentore. #venice #venicebiennial by @mwidrich

Little did I know when I worked on a book on Leopoldstadt decades ago that I would be invited to speak about, well, Leopoldstadt, at the Writer’s Theatre in Glencoe, Illinois, where Tom Stoppard’s play is being performed. In any case, I am very honored. The book was co-edited with Werner Hanak and has wonderful photographs by Peter Rigaud. I will be in conversation on June 1 with Professor Anna Souchuk. #leopoldstadt by @mwidrich
