Latest design project with @mwinterdesign and team @edgetaylor_ + @jessinadine reviving a Venice Beach institution with a new look @the.tasting.kitchen

Balancing a sense of weathered warmth with a more refined edge. A layered mix of materials gives the space richness without making it feel too precious, while the intimate seating, lighting, and details bring a residential quality to the restaurant.

A new westside favorite 🌿

For our May issue, Brentwood City Lifestyle explored one of the most exciting new restaurant openings near Brentwood: @themulberryla — a soulful Korean American bistro on Sawtelle that already feels deeply rooted in the community. From the layered, nostalgic interiors to the thoughtful menu and warm neighborhood energy, this is the kind of place you settle into and never want to leave.

Created by local husband-and-wife team David Lee and Jennifer Chon, The Mulberry blends Korean heritage, elevated hospitality and westside comfort in such a beautiful, intentional way. The interiors—designed in collaboration with Matt Winter of @mwinterdesign , the creative force behind @maxandhelens , @rvr.venice and @manueladtla —feel intimate, layered and effortlessly cool, with marble tabletops, leather banquettes and vintage details that make the space feel instantly timeless. ✨

And then there’s the food: crispy kimchi pancakes, spicy braised black cod, Korean fried chicken, incredible cocktails and so many dishes designed for lingering around the table a little longer.

Read more in the May issue. 🍸

This week on Paré Paré, Trevor talks with car enthusiast and interior designer, Matt Winter. Together they discuss Matt’s love of cars, including how he honed his car taste, how he feels about his current collection, and how he went from driving old Fords to driving Ferrari 330 GTCs and Porsche 356s. They also discuss Matt’s love of architecture and design and how he turned a forgotten and cluttered building space into the ultimate car lover’s escape. Lastly, they talk about how Matt’s design of Phil Rosenthal and Nancy Silverton’s Max and Helen’s diner evolved and how his design firm, M. Winter Design, approaches its projects and delivers timeless design. by @mwinterdesign

For those of you enjoying the cozy atmosphere and details at @maxandhelens, we’ve got @mwinterdesign to thank for that.

Taking inspiration from both traditional American and European design, we used all original lighting from the 1920s that’s been refurbished. From the handmade tiles to the vintage framed photos of Max and Helen, it’s these authentic details that I love about this diner. It’s meant to feel like home - cozy, comfortable and familiar. And we hope you do too. taken in Max & Helen's by @mwinterdesign

My latest opening @rvr.venice a collaboration with chef Travis Lett. A rewarding project that I am very proud of. Every inch of this place is deigned with attention to detail, to feel comfortable, warm and familiar. With vintage pieces connecting the old craftsmanship of Japan and the mid century California coastal lifestyle. Thankful for my team and everyone involved on the buildout taken in RVR Venice by @mwinterdesign
