The Brothers of the Mu Chi were proud to table at Councilwoman Tunua Thrash-Ntuk’s 2nd Annual Back to School Giveaway! 📚✏️

We had an amazing time connecting with families, encouraging the youth to get free haircuts, and helping make sure students are ready to take on the school year with confidence.

Thank you to Councilwoman Thrash-Ntuk @tunuathrashntuklb and her team for creating another impactful event for the community. We were proud to support!

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month and Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month approaching next month, here’s a recap of our final Men’s Mental Monday during Alpha Week, where we had even more brothers in attendance. As the semester comes to an end and our main lead for this program, Bro. Adeoti, prepares to leave, he wanted to share a few words about what this program truly meant to him.

“Last summer, I started thinking about creating a space where men, especially men of color, could come together and have honest conversations about mental health, pressure, emotions, and life in general. Growing up, I always felt like mental health within the Black/African community and amongst men wasn’t taken seriously enough. We’re often taught to stay quiet, suppress emotions, and just push through life no matter what we’re carrying internally. Over time, that mindset disconnects us from ourselves and even the people closest to us. Men’s Mental Mondays only a program to me, but an outlet, a safe space, and a reminder that vulnerability does not make us weak. Throughout this semester, we created conversations around stress, masculinity, emotional expression, coping, accountability, and healing that many people never get the chance to have. I want to thank my brothers of in the chapter and Mental Health America of Los Angeles (MHALA) for believing in this vision and supporting it throughout the semester. I truly hope this program continues long after I’m gone because men deserve spaces to heal, grow, and feel heard.” taken in Long Beach, California by @mxalphas
