I spent the last few weeks reading my grandpa’s handwritten journals, translating them from Tongan to English (with the help of my mom & dad Sela Saimone Ikahihifo & chatgpt), and putting together this short video.
Thank you to my mom’s sisters who also contributed to filling in the gaps of my understanding grandpa hengehenga’s history. It was such a special experience to learn more about his life, his faith, and the sacrifices he made for our family. I hope his story continues to inspire generations to come. Being away from social media made me realize how much precious time I’ve wasted scrolling through feeds. Feeds are often filtered to only show the best parts of our lives, and I’ve learned that it’s easy to fall into the trap of constantly being reminded of what we don’t have instead of appreciating what we do.

More often than not, the “things” we think we’re missing out on aren’t actually that important. We can become so blinded by what we lack that we forget to notice the beauty in what’s right in front of us. Too often, we take little things for granted. We spend so much time looking down at screens that we forget to look up.

That being said, I don’t think social media is all bad—it’s about how you use it. It can be an amazing tool to spread positivity, and many people do. So, I thought I’d share three little things I’m truly thankful for, and why. Hopefully, it inspires you to reflect on what you’re grateful for, whether you post it or just think about it before going to sleep tonight.
1. I love being able to call my mom and dad to share everything happening in my life. I realize not everyone has that opportunity, so I’m incredibly grateful for my amazing parents, for technology, and most of all, for the time I still have with them.
2. Having dinner with my family. Living away from home for over a year made me miss this so much, and I definitely took it for granted before.
3. Going to sleep and waking up in a bed with a roof over my head. No matter how tough life feels, it’s important to remember that someone out there is facing harder circumstances and would love to have the simple things we often overlook.

Hi, I’m Mae Ikahihifo

For a while now, I’ve felt called to be more intentional in my relationship with God, and I wanted to invite you along on this journey! :)

Pursuing Jesus is at the heart of everything I do and hope to do in this life. I wanted to create Faithfully Intentional to embody God’s love and greatness, dedicated with the purpose of sharing His goodness through testimonials, devotions, and sharing some of my own experiences. My goal is to offer content that inspires and encourages a deeper relationship with God.

Guided by faith, integrity, and service, I believe being intentional with our faith in God is about building relationships and bringing light into the world. Colossians 3:23 reminds us, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.”

I hope you’ll join me on this faith-filled journey, where we try our best to integrate Jesus into everything we do and live out His love each day. 🙏🏽🌿✨
