(Ex Rae Punk mixed by corey)
engineered by Gabriel Garman
at LAF Studios in Crown Heights, NY

Cover art / album design by @raemondflowers

"Perfect House" is a collection of love letters to a house on fire. In October last year we sat down in our basement studio and picked these four songs from a slew of demos made during the lifespan of MX.
Instead of rerecording, we used the demos as skeletons and started adding and subtracting new elements, shaping them into songs. We invited our friends Caitlin Starr and Connor (of the band Wiring) to come in and perform on some of them.

lets rock 🖤

PERFECT HOUSE is out today

via the one & only @juliaswarrecs

PERFECT HOUSE was the first recording we tracked fully in our studio in crown heights. a sonic collage from fragments of house on fire (mx style)

as a band we really love building from the ashes. these were all canned songs that never made it to previous records… kinda poetic to record in a studio that we’ve been wires (wiring mentioned) and built from bare bones in 2024

when we started working on PERFECT HOUSE, we just referred to it as the B Sides, but where the songs ended up feels like something much more fully formed. Between the production choices -- different drum mixes on every song, multiple mix engineers, a combination of home recording at my apartment & recording at the new studio, using blatantly DI elements in March... -- the underbelly of the heavy alternative full live band sound we've been working on the past few years.

MX LONELY began as an exploration between us all, to self record something sinfully sincere: heavy and sonically detailed. something that's hard to categorize, musically & thematically (non binary).

our house is not perfect, but its ours and its an honor to host you (we fucking love you)

our final US show of the year is next week at the meadows on 10/8 to celebrate the release. tickets are in the bio and we'll be blasting it all week. cant wait to see all our freaky lil family there 🖤

the song twenty seconds (feat. wiring) is where we look into the camera to say the name of the movie

"fall asleep inside my ribs
a perfect house to live in"

"EX RAE PUNK (FEAT. CAITLIN STARR)" OUT NOW

release show 10/8 @themeadowsbk

Ex Rae (Punk) - is a reimagining of the first song I ever wrote in 2019 with Jake when we used to be called ‘v0idb0ys’.

I briefly dated someone who would constantly refer to me as their “ex rae” (x-ray) after we stopped seeing each other. I realized quickly that they never really saw me at all (see right through you, see right through me). It really laid the groundwork for the themes of ownership and heartbreak throughout “DOG” (the 1st and only v0idb0ys record)

The opening riff from our first voice memo recordings didn’t really fit the world of the record and we opted for a more folky rendition for the record- but it always was something a little bittersweet about putting the “punk” version on the shelf.

Last winter, I was playing the song for Caitlin Starr on acoustic guitar in her living room and we found these natural harmonies really intuitively- she just really got the song and I knew we had to revive the song with her voice and an iconic feral Caitlin guitar solo.
