Real talk, these Rekordbox habits turned my chaos into control and heres how:

You can spend hours watching transitions and mashups, but if your prep game is weak, your set will always be shaky. These are the small changes that have made a massive difference in how I prep, mix, and perform — especially when it comes to consistency and speed behind the decks:

🧠 1. Set your analysis mode to ‘Normal’
Rekordbox’s Dynamic BPM feature can ruin tracks that don’t even have tempo changes. Use Normal mode unless the song actually varies. And if it does vary, rename the track title so you know when you're digging through crates mid-set. It’s saved me from some awkward transitions.

🎯 2. Hot Cues vs Memory Cues
Hot cues are great for those chaotic James Hype-style fly-ins, but don’t sleep on Memory Cues. Especially if you’re using older CDJs with limited hot cue slots — memory points are your best friend for setting clean, structured transitions and entry points. I use them for breakdowns, drops, build-ups — the whole roadmap.

💣 3. Want to double drop like a pro? Standardise your memory cue layout.
Literally one of the easiest ways to make your entire library "click" together. Set memory cues in the same places across tracks: intro, drop, 8 bars before drop, etc. When you’re in a rush or flowing in a set, this makes lining things up effortless.

📁 4. Organise your music like it’s a weapon.

Use star ratings to track energy or style (e.g. 1 star = chill, 5 star = peak energy)

Leave comments on tracks (e.g. “bassy / halftime switch / double drop potential”)

Build folders for genres, set ideas, even import year so you’re not endlessly scrolling.

These aren’t flashy tricks — they’re the boring but powerful habits no one teaches. But once you adopt them, you’ll never prep the same again.
