Hello 👋

A little life update from us.

After a few crazy weeks full of chaos packing, moving, loading up all our things, transporting the animals, cleaning and organising we are finally moved and settled into our new home. 🏡💜

It's been all go. My pet business has also been flat out! I am very blessed to be kept so busy with the most wonderful wee animals. Everything from large dogs to tiny tortoises. 🐕🐢

I've had no bookings today so the dogs and I have had a lazy morning tucked up in bed which was very much needed and now enjoying a bit of peace and quiet having snuggles together on the sofa before the rest of this week turns mad again with dog walks and kitten house stays. 😂

The dogs are very happy and relaxed here. We've moved to the country side and the views from our new home are amazing! The dogs have such a good space to run and play too! 🥰

I am very excited for this new chapter and to spend my mornings and evenings with the horses and other wildlife in the back field of our house. 🐴🥹

September is pain awareness month 💜

Chronic pain can look like unpredictable symptoms, being misunderstood and more than just "being in pain".

Chronic pain doesn't have a look. You can be young, be dressed with your make up done, hang out with your friends, go to work and still be in pain. It can be hidden behind a smile or a "normal" looking day.

Looking well doesn't always mean feeling well. You can have good days and still struggle the next.

Chronic pain is exhausting. You can sleep all night and still wake up already tired. Some days you've done nothing but your body feels like it's done everything.

Chronic pain can change without warning. It's not always possible to predict how you'll feel from one day to the next.

Nobody sees the seat you gave up eventho you were in pain or the plans you cancelled or the smile you put on anyway.

Living with a chronic illness takes a strength many don't see. Early in the mornings, the hospital appointments, the sleepless nights, the hard days and the resilience to never give up.

Chronic illness isn't only a physical challenge, you carry a mental load too.

Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean it's not there!

Pain doesn't stop when you sleep or rest. Everyday activities takes extra energy.

Chronic pain is living in a body that looks healthy, being exhausted and in pain when nobody can see it. It's smiling, showing up and pretending to feel better than you actually do.

Sometimes the person who looks the healthiest in the room, is the one fighting the hardest battle.

The hardest part isn't pain itself, it's being misunderstood.

Types of pain:
Acute, chronic, Nociceptive, somatic, Visceral, phantom, referred, inflammatory, Neuropathic, Psychogenic + so much more!

Statistics:

1 in 5 people struggle with chronic pain.

71% are disabled by their pain.

58% of women are dismissed.

59% of coloured people are discriminated against based on their pain.

96% show no outward signs making it easy to disregard or question their suffering.

Chronic pain is often under treated because it's invisible. Leading to medical dismissal or being told it's all in your head. Causing delays in care and treatment. taken in The Sunflower Field, Portglenone by @my.collie.millie

With you, I'm happy being me. 🥹✨

September is suicide prevention month and I'd like to spread awareness because it is a word that so many of us is made to feel uncomfortable by. We fall silent, stutter, gulp, put our head down and sometimes even get a shiver down our spine - this should not be the case. If someone mentioned the words death, mental health, anxiety or depression you wouldn't silence them - you would simply sit and listen and let them know you are there and you care so why is it any different for suicide?

If you can take anything away from this post - I hope by sharing my story it gives at least one other person the courage to share theirs too and get the help and support they're truly worthy of.

Being a young individual who has been in a dark place and suffered in silence for the longest time, too scared to speak up and hiding behind a mask, I wouldn't wish for anyone to journey that alone. By being silent about my struggles it nearly took my life until I hit breaking point and the signs starting become too visible and it was impossible to hide any longer.

I accepted I needed help and I couldn't do this alone. It was a far from easy journey and I didn't heal overnight, but as of right now I can confidently say that I am in the best state of mind, since 2021. I have built a sense of community, found my purpose and figured out what makes me happy in life and what is keeping me here - alive today able to write this post, and you can too with the right support system.

I was failed by the support system time and time again in school, college, mental health teams and even GPS but you will find your person who truly understands and wants to get you the right help, you've just got to be a little bit patient. 🫶

For me, my dogs are the reason my head is above water. They are my purpose, motivation and reason. They made me realise just how much I need someone to need me too. They got me out of bed on all the hard days, got me outside and moving my body, give me motivation and a paw when I needed a hand the most. Without ever saying a word, they are my safety net. When the world gave me a million reasons to leave they were my reason to stay. taken in The Sunflower Field, Portglenone by @my.collie.millie

It's okay if your growth isn't visible yet. Roots grow before flowers do. 🌻✨

💜 SEPTEMBER — SUICIDE PREVENTION MONTH 💜

This is something very close to me and important — and it’s something I feel we all need to talk about more openly.

For so long we’ve told people “just reach out” — but we need to learn to reach in. To lean in, to ask, to sit with someone, instead of waiting for them to come to us.

There’s something called the 8‑Minute Method — and it’s so simple, yet so powerful.

⏰ If you can spare just 8 minutes to truly ask someone how they are — and really listen — they are far more likely to open up and tell you the truth.

8 minutes. That’s all it takes.

To ask. To stay. To listen.

To notice what they aren’t saying.

To let them know they aren’t invisible and they aren’t alone.

If you can give 8 minutes, you could potentially save a life.

Let’s be the people who reach in. Who show up fully. Who give our time freely — because every single life matters.

Happy international dog day to all the incredible fur babies out there. Thank you for making life worth living for me and many others. You fill us with so much joy and sunshine even when it rains. You truly make the world a better place. 🌎❤️

I know for me Millie and Chip are my reason, my purpose, my motivation, my lifeline, my teachers, therapists, best friends and so much more. They are the reason I am able to write this post today and tbh without them in my life, I don't know if I would be here. They have been my safety net and safe space. They ground me and are my calm amongst all of my chaos. They give me peace and make the world feel quiet when it gets loud. They silence the voices when they get unbearable.

They have given me a sense of community and inspired me to do what I love and to follow my dreams of becoming a dog photographer and dog walker/pet sitter and I couldn't be more thankful. For everything I do, I owe it all to them. 🥰💜

Everyone who knows me knows about my dogs too, they will forever be apart of my story. 📖🐾

Bet you've missed this pretty face 🥹🫶

This month has been crazyyyy and tbh my heart just hasn't been in the dogs Instagrams lately. I am working pretty much full time with my own dog walking and pet sitting business and when I don't have animals booked in I am then doing admin and creating content.

I love my dogs very much. They are my world, my reason, my purpose, my lifeline, my motivation and my inspiration plus so much more so I won't be shutting their Instagrams down entirely but we will be quieter on here with the occasional post and update.

I can reassure you Chip and Millie are both doing great! They still enjoy their outings to the hydro pool and let loose agility park, forest, beach and more! They still get Thier daily river side and woodland walks and trips to the enclosed field too.

They enjoy belly rubs and being showered in love and cuddles. They are happy, healthy and thriving. Life is just soooo busy and chaotic behind the scenes.

Thank you for your patience and continued support we truly have the best little community and insta family. 🥰💜 taken in Riverside park, Ballymoney by @my.collie.millie

Hello 👋

A little life update from us. Firstly, my little dog walking and pet sitting business has taken off and I've been experiencing high demand hence the lack of posting on the dogs Instagram... 🤣 I started with a lovely German pointer on a Monday and Wednesday morning and still have my regular Wilson (chip and Millie's best friend) I looked after and pet sit for a Hermann tortoise last week with visits twice a day for feeding, cleaning and keeping his routine and temperature all in check. I had the best time 🥹🐢

I received my A level results last Thursday and achieved a merit pass in level 3 animal management 🥺🫶🐾 it was far from an easy journey but it all paid off in the end. Hospital admissions, under going investigations, cardiology, drs appointments and being diagnosed with PoTS. Many of sleepless nights, days spent behind a laptop screen and so much more!

Now on to the dogs. Millie is doing great!! She has been enjoying her walkies and going for adventures. She's been loving daily visits to the enclosed field and let loose agility park. We've been doing lots of training on her heel and loose lead walking. She's been a wee star 🌟

Chip is doing okay, hanging in there. Had a bit of a wobble yesterday but keeping everything crossed it was just an off day with his medication for his heart murmur but keeping a very close eye on him and giving him lots of love and snuggles. He's been struggling with his seasonal allergies too 😓

We'll soon be off to Portglenone sun flower fields for our yearly outing and I can not wait to capture more adorable photos in one of our favourite spots with the dogs again this year. 🥰💜 taken in Riverside park, Ballymoney by @my.collie.millie

You can walk straight through hell with a smile.

I am over the moon to share with you all that I achieved a Merit Pass in my Level 3 Animal Management extended diploma 🎓🐾

It has been a far from easy journey with a hospital admission, on going health struggles and battles, long days sat Infront of a laptop screen, late night revision and so much more but I got there in the end and my hard work has paid off! 🙌💜

I've never been one to thrive in the classroom setting, I've never been academic. I thrive in my own world so to have achieved a qualification in something that I am very passionate about leading me to my new venture of running a dog walking and pet sitting business I am very excited and buzzing inside and feeling very proud to have this qualification in the bag! 🥹✅

I'd like to say I did it all on my own but the truth is it never would have been possible without my amazing mentor Ryan and my specialist assistant Sheena. They truly have been my rocks over the last 2 years and I am forever grateful for them both. They will forever hold a special place in my hearts, they truly made a difference. 🫶 by @my.collie.millie
