For over twenty years, @ziedmeddebhamrouni AKA Shinigami San has been exploring, experimenting with, and sharing his passion for electronic music and sound design. He is now leading an intensive 4-hour workshop at MY.LI Studio, introducing participants to the world of modular synthesis.
This session skips the long lectures in favor of a structured, hands-on approach that immerses you directly in the fundamentals of modular synthesis. Using the free software VCV Rack, we'll demystify how modular systems work. By understanding different synthesis techniques, you'll learn to break free from traditional linear workflows, route control voltage (CV), and create expressive patches that evolve and generate music autonomously.
Whether you're a producer looking for fresh sonic textures, a sound designer, or a curious beginner, this welcoming workshop offers a new way to understand and create sound.
What you'll take home:
🎛 Three custom template patches (.vcv files) – Clean, fully functional setups for generative, rhythmic, and classic subtractive synthesis that you can continue refining at home.
🎧 Your own original track or sound texture – A high-quality WAV recording of the unique modular patch you build from scratch during the workshop.
📖 A modular synthesis quick reference guide – A simple one-page visual guide to signal routing, designed to help you navigate modular systems long after the session.
🔌 Understand the logic of control voltage (CV).
🌀 Create self-generating patches.
🚀 Unlock an entirely new creative workflow.
⚠️ Limited to 5 participants only, ensuring a focused, interactive experience with plenty of time to answer your individual questions.
