The Mirror

There was a time when I trained five days a week,
not because I loved the process,
but because I hated the reflection staring back at me.

Every workout was another attempt
to become someone I thought people would finally accept.
Relationships and the people around me
had convinced me that my worth
could be measured by what they saw,
instead of who I truly was.

So I kept chasing perfection.

Ironically, when I look back now,
that was probably when I looked my best.
The body was stronger.
The mirror approved.

But my soul didn’t.

Because what good is a strong body
if your heart is carrying the weight of self-doubt?
What good is admiration from strangers
when you can’t even admire yourself?

Today, I still stand in front of the same mirror.
The only difference is…

I finally recognize the person looking back.

I see my scars,
and I thank them for teaching me.

I see my mistakes,
and I forgive them.

I see my flaws,
my weirdness,
the parts I once tried to hide…

And now they’re the parts I love the most.

I no longer need to become someone else
to feel worthy.

I no longer need validation
to know my value.

I no longer fight the person in the mirror.

Because the most beautiful version of yourself
isn’t the one with the perfect physique,
the sharpest jawline,
or the body everyone envies.

It’s the one who can look themselves in the eyes and say,

“This is me.”

With my scars.
With my past.
With my dreams.
With my imperfections.
With my laughter.
With my madness.
With everything that makes me… me.

Self-acceptance isn’t the moment you become perfect.

It’s the moment you stop fighting yourself.

And that’s when life truly begins.

He sat alone in a room so still,
A storm in his chest, against his will.
The words he longed to speak were caught,
Tied in silence, every thought.

For her, he was strong, a wall of stone,
But inside, he broke, afraid, alone.
How do you tell what remains unseen,
When fear takes hold of where you’ve been?

He reached for a pen, his hand unsure,
A scrap of paper, his only cure.
The ink began to slowly flow,
Each word a piece of what he’d show.

“I don’t know how to make you see,
But you are the storm and the calm in me.
You scare me, free me, make me whole,
You hold the key to my restless soul.”

He folded the note, his hands unsteady,
A quiet act of courage, finally ready.
He left it behind, a whispered confession,
Hoping she’d feel his unspoken expression.

And when she read it, her eyes so bright,
He knew the heart could speak without sight.

Purple

Sometimes the world stands still,
like time itself has lost its will.
People pass without a sound,
while I feel lost without being found.

I sit here where the trees grow wide,
a place where I no longer have to hide.
A park that listens when I fall apart,
quiet enough to hear my heart.

With the feelings of a fool, I roam,
searching for answers far from home.
Wondering if I’m walking the right way,
or slowly losing myself day by day.

That is why I chose this place as my favorite for
Misters of the Netherlands.
Not because it looks perfect to the eye,
but because here, I don’t have to lie.

Whenever my mind becomes too loud,
and life feels heavy like a storm cloud,
I come here alone beneath the sky,
asking myself the reasons why.

And in the purple glow above the trees,
I find a moment of quiet peace.
Just silence, nature, and open air
