Coffs, you really know how to put on a show. 🌏🏉

Flags flying, nations marching, fans cheering and more than 5,000 people heading to C.ex Coffs International Stadium for the opening ceremony of the 2026 Tag World Cup last night. What a sight!

With around 200 teams, 4,500 players and coaches, and representation from more than 25 nations, the world has well and truly arrived on our doorstep.

And honestly? We make a pretty great host.
There’s something special about seeing our stadium come alive on the international stage, with so many people proudly representing their countries and our community turning out to welcome them.

How good is Coffs! 💙

A little reminder that people travel a very long way to be where we already are.

The surf, the swimming holes, the long lunches that turn into late afternoons. Markets, music, big nights out and even bigger sporting moments. Ancient culture, local characters and a hinterland that makes a very convincing case for cancelling your plans.

And somehow, when you live here, it's easy to forget just how much is on our doorstep.

So consider this your invitation to play tourist in your own town. Take the scenic route. Book the tickets. Try somewhere new.

Sometimes all it takes is showing up for a swim.

When Matilda and Kate moved to Coffs almost two years ago, they started the Sawty Dip Heads to meet a few new faces.

These days, Thursday mornings mean sunrise swims, coffee, plenty of laughs and a whole lot of new friendships.

The best part? You can turn up knowing absolutely no one and find yourself looking forward to seeing everyone again next week.

New to town, been here forever or somewhere in between, there’s room for you.

For one family, it’s dinner on the headland and keeping an eye out for whales. For another, it’s a library and museum kind of day. Or sometimes it’s just Mum and daughter and a walk to the lookout.

Grandad knows the track. Dad knows where to stop for lunch. The kids are just along for a very good day out.

A rainforest walk, a kick of the footy, a fishing line in the water and lunch at the pub.

A funny thing happens when you see the world through a child's eyes.

The beach becomes an expedition. A nature walk becomes a treasure hunt. A babycino feels wildly sophisticated.

Suddenly you're noticing things you'd forgotten to notice. The winter sunshine. The way a good playground can hold someone's attention for hours. The fact that hot chips on the beach are, and always will be, one of life's great pleasures.

Because this place is yours now. To explore. To climb, wander, splash, ride and discover.

Perhaps that's the real magic of growing up here.

Not the big things. The little things.

The things you don't realise are special until you watch someone discover them for the first time.

The group chat said, "Just a quick coffee."

Six hours later you've walked the beach, wandered through a few shops, played a game of golf that's less about your score and more about the people you're playing with, enjoyed cocktails because, well, you've earned them, and settled in for dinner because nobody was quite ready to call it a day.

The best part is that none of it was really planned. One thing simply led to another, and before you knew it an ordinary afternoon had become one of those days you'll find yourself talking about for weeks.

Maybe that's the real luxury. Not filling every minute with something productive but making time for the people who make even the simplest moments feel worth remembering.

Turns out, a pretty great life looks a lot like this, hiding in plain sight all along.
