Hi everyone 👋🏼👋🏾 we’re @kalytexia + @mye_way, the creators of @queerjoytheseries 🌈 Through a wonderful happenstance, we met and decided to come together to create a docu-style project which aims to show queer folks (with an emphasis on queer women/womxn), living their authentic lives as best as they humanly can. Because of our limited budget (actually: no budget), we honed in on 4 folks who were available and willing to let us into their lives over the course of the last year (2024) in Los Angeles, CA. These people are: @vinylowl @sxrxh.green @itsvanessapapa @aishablvck_

While we will always pay respect to all the queer series that came before us, we equally and publicly condemn series that take advantage of cast members, pit people against each other, parade peoples’ traumas on television, and in general, create a lack of trust between Filmmaker & Subject. You won’t find any of that here. Our role is not to glorify people at their weakest, nor to continue to promote toxic or unhealthy behavior for the sake of entertainment. We’re here to share small snippets of queer people trying to SURVIVE & THRIVE in this chaotic, messy, and challenging world we all live in.

We hope you’ll subscribe to our YouTube channel (where we will currently be dropping the series on June 1st 🥳). We’d love your support in any capacity as we continue to navigate the release of this very important, 100% independently produced, directed, filmed, and edited project. We understand that the 4 folx being highlighted in our first release do not represent the entirety of the queer experience, and hope you’ll stay with us anyway as we continue to expand the series all over the US, and abroad. 🌍

I pride myself on being private, only to realize that sometimes privacy is a trauma response. I’ve always lived between sharing everything and nothing at all- hoarding beautiful memories, then wondering why people can’t see what I see.

So I’m learning the middle: to let myself be seen, to share the beauty while I’m still inside of it.

So here it is: Mexico City 🇲🇽

I wanted to welcome this next trip around the sun with new friends, deepen old connections, and simply be present

@biggershorty you’re a rogue pony just like me 🤎

Oaxaca gave me friends (@ninahadinata & @morgenwynn )who already feel like lifers

I met neighbors (@johnhaleh & @zachmfields) 1,800 miles from home over dinner and found myself celebrating my birthday with people who share my curiosities-fashion, food, art, architecture, and all the little things that make life feel expansive .

A lot happened in Mexico
My only instructions to myself were simple:

Be present. Be brave. Be kind to myself.

Maybe that’s enough ✨

I’m beyond grateful for another wild, tender, nurturing orbit around the sun

Truthfully, there was a moment in early 2025 when I thought I was going to die. Somewhere between the breaking and the becoming, I cried out-and somehow, the universe heard me

It heard the part of me that was tired of surviving
The part that wanted more
More life. More depth. More truth. More love.

And then the energy shifted

To every human who held me in their prayers, in their eyes, and in their arms-thank you. You carried pieces of me when I didn’t have the strength to carry them myself

May God bless my spiritual healers, my therapist, the sun that keeps finding me, and the moon that keeps reminding me that becoming is never linear

At 38, I can finally say: I’m ready

I’ve realized I gave too much of myself to people, places, and things that could never hold what I was offering

So I’m choosing differently now

The vibration you live in is the vibration you make room to receive

And I’m no longer interested in shrinking the frequency of who I am so that someone else can feel comfortable standing beside me

I’m ready to stop being humble about my gifts
I’m ready to trust what moves through me.
I’m ready to be seen.
I’m ready to receive.
And most importantly-
