"Drawing on stone to create a lithography-print feels very, very similar to painting a mural on the street where I brush the cold wall in front of me and breathe life into it.“ ~ Hera of Herakut (sharing how the latest @myfinbec limited edition #lithograph created at the historic printing studio @idemparis in Montparnasse is connected to the #mural on Rue Poissonnière in the 2nd Arrondissement of the French capital. That mural, sourced by @verticle75 almost never came to exist due to a wave of anxiety and self-doubt. These two pieces of #art – mural and print – are a reminder that true creative processes, the stuff you work your way through, technically and psychologically, will always be so much more than pretty images spat out by an emotionless computer program within split seconds. A huge part of the true, messy and time consuming creative process is its therapeutic aspect: the fear, the struggle, the joyful bliss to have completed another wild ride, another battle with one’s dark thoughts. »As Long As There Are Dreams … There Is Hope.« is the outcome of such a creative process.) (Don’t hesitate to reach out to Chris at @myfinbec to learn more about it.) taken in Paris, France by @myfinbec

»doing #lithography as a first step you use grease to apply your mirrored image on a slap of lime stone. In its last step, the stone gets sanded down, the lines are being removed completely to make room for the next artist’s hands and thoughts. You have become part of the stone‘s history. Your prints bear witness to this brief encounter. For me this comes real close to the ephemeral nature of muralism, of streetart.« ~ Hera @idemparis @myfinbec taken in Idem Paris by @myfinbec

20 Years 1UP” by 1UP Crew - DM @myfinbec for more info

Two color lithograph printed on a Marinoni press built in 1881
Each lithograph individually hand embellished with spray paint, china ink and marker
Edition of 200
61.5 cm by 68.5cm / 24 by 27 inches
Paper - BFK Rives 270 g
Numbered and signed by 1UP crew + stamped by Idem

To commemorate twenty years since the founding of the “One United Power” 1UP collective, a “family portrait” art print was super neccessary to create. Also, in order to match the powerful impact of 20 years of 1UP Crew, the family portrait would be made at one of the most renowned print houses in the world, at Idem in Paris. Idem atelier was established in 1881 and printed the lithograph editions of Matisse, Picasso, Miro, Chagall and many other legendary artists over the past 140 years. By creating the original artwork for the 1UP family portrait on a slab of limestone, 1UP keeps to its graffiti roots of painting on walls. What makes this printing technique so special is that the paper is pressed directly against the original artwork to make the print, rather than an ink jet print or silk screen. After the finished art print is done, each lithograph was then hand embellished with spray paint, china ink and tagged with a marker. This 2 color lithograph was printed in Paris using the traditional lithograph method of creating the artwork directly on a slab of limestone, and then each color was then printed using a Marinoni flatbed press built in 1881. This lithograph measures 61,5 x 68,5 centimeters (approx. 24 by 27 inches), is printed on BFK Rives 270g cotton paper, stamped by Idem the print house, with hand torn edges and then signed and numbered by the artist. The hand embellishing is slightly different for each of the art prints, different spray paint colors and different tags makes each art print quite unique. by @myfinbec

#mural »I Am The Summoner Of Nothing In Particular« #hera_herakut , early February, community wall arranged by @verticle75 in 5 Rue Poissonnière, Paris. NOW IN ALL HONESTY: I was in absolute panic mode, right up until I was handed my trusted tool, the paint roller extension pole, shut off my brain & followed the lines that appeared through rollers, #spraypaint, paintbrush. But really, days before, the hours and minutes before I actually started #painting, I was crying my eyes out drowned by a wave of anxiety, best described as "imposter syndrome". I was convinced, I had nothing worth sharing and no reason to be there – right up until the moment I held my tools. That’s when the switch was turned, my imagination overwrote ratio, random shapes, then figures started pouring out and piled up. So, under the watchful eyes of Tommy (last slide), and the kind crew around me, I started "summoning" whatever really – snakes, bats, mermaids, three-headed dogs, a unicorn battling some kind of knight, truly »nothing in particular« but a lot of it. And before I knew it, my favorite thing happened (slide 2): neighborhood children stopped to take in my painted turmoil, discussed it, asked questions and just spent time out of their day thinking about something that I helped to appear. You might not believe me, but no matter how many years i spent painting in public, that moment when a child stops to decipher your lines, that will never get old! That is the reason to continue. To continue dreaming to help others dream. That moment in February inspired another artwork I then did: a drawing/ a lithograph I printed with @myfinbec . The lithograph‘s title became this: »As Long As There Are Dreams, There Is Hope.“ As long as we allow ourselves to overwrite doubt and fear, we can dream and float, create, inspire, continue marching through darkness. Now you know the whole backstory!) Thank you everyone, who where there that day! And thank you @eddiecolla & @droos86 & @rachel_riot_designs for the beautiful project and photos, and thank you, Chris @myfinbec for your patience with this mind of mine, helping me make sense of it all! Much, much love, Hera taken in 2nd arrondissement, Paris by @myfinbec
