Another win for hip-hop culture!

Major congratulations to MC Lyte on receiving an honorary Doctor of Arts degree, recognizing her incredible impact on music, education, leadership, and the culture. From breaking barriers as one of hip-hop's most respected voices to inspiring generations on and off the mic, this honor is a testament to a legacy built on talent, perseverance, and purpose.

The title has changed, but the mission remains the same.

Put some respect on it... Dr. MC Lyte. 🎓🎤🔥

Today, we celebrate the men who taught us how to ride a bike, change a tire, work hard, stand tall, and somehow fix things with a single phrase: "Let me take a look at it."

To every father, stepfather, grandfather, uncle, mentor, and father figure who showed up, sacrificed, guided, protected, and loved without asking for applause, we salute you. Your impact reaches farther than you'll ever know.

From all of us at Hype Nation, Happy Father's Day! We hope your day is filled with love, laughter, great memories, good food, and maybe even control of the TV remote for once.

You finally made it. The struggle days are behind you, the bills are paid, and life looks a whole lot different than it used to.

But now comes the big question...

Do you put your family on?
Do you help everyone who helped raise you?
Or is it okay to protect your peace, your money, and the future you've worked so hard to build?

Some people say success means reaching back and lifting others up. Others say becoming the family bank can turn blessings into burdens.

Tonight on Hype Chat, we're talking loyalty, responsibility, boundaries, and those uncomfortable family expectations that come with success.

Join the conversation LIVE tonight at 5PM use that TALK BACK button on Audilous and let us know where you stand.

If you made it out the hood, are you obligated to put your family on... or nah?

Today we honor the life and legacy of Peabo Bryson, who passed away on June 2, 2026, at the age of 75. For decades, his unmistakable voice soundtracked love stories, family gatherings, slow dances, and unforgettable moments across generations. From "If Ever You're In My Arms Again" to the timeless classics "Beauty and the Beast" and "A Whole New World," Peabo's voice carried a warmth that few artists could match.

While many know him as the king of romantic ballads, his influence reached far beyond R&B. Hip-Hop culture has always embraced soul, and Peabo Bryson's music became part of that DNA. His smooth vocals, rich melodies, and emotional storytelling helped shape the soundscape that producers and artists drew from for decades. His records lived in collections, sample crates, radio mixes, and countless memories throughout the culture.

A true gentleman, a master vocalist, and a timeless artist. Thank you for the music, the emotion, and the moments. Rest peacefully, Peabo Bryson. Your voice will continue to echo through speakers, headphones, turntables, and hearts for generations to come.

May is Mental Awareness Month 🧠💚

Check on your strong friends. Check on yourself too.
Rest is real. Healing is real. Talking about what’s on your mind doesn’t make you weak, it makes you human. One conversation can change somebody’s whole day… maybe even their whole direction.

Protect your peace like it’s your favorite vinyl record. Don’t let life scratch it up. 🎧✨

Rest in peace to hip-hop legend Rob Base. 🕊️

Today hurts for the culture. From the moment “It Takes Two” touched the speakers, the energy in the room instantly changed. Cookouts, skating rinks, house parties, school dances, block parties, radio mixes… Rob Base gave us records that didn’t just play, they activated the whole atmosphere. You could be sitting down tired all night, but the second that beat dropped, suddenly everybody became a backup dancer with unlimited confidence.

What made Rob Base special was how timeless his music felt. Decades later, those songs still bring people together across generations. Parents, kids, uncles, aunties, DJs, old-school heads, and even people hearing the records for the first time all catch that same feeling. That kind of impact can’t be manufactured. That’s legacy.

After battling cancer, his passing is a reminder that our legends are human too. While we celebrate the music and memories, we also mourn the man behind the microphone. Thank you for giving hip-hop joy, energy, originality, and records that will forever live in rotation.

Prayers and love to his family, friends, and fans around the world. Your voice, your style, and your contribution to the culture will never be forgotten.

Rest easy, Rob Base. The party will never stop playing your records. by @myhyperadio
