What better day than your birthday to finally share a little piece of something so special, Bittu… aka Bhuwan aka @the_nomadic_bard ☺️What The Heart Remembers carries not only deeply thoughtful poems, but also years of conversations, shared love for art, films, sketches, stories, and quiet creative encouragement and for that, I’m looking at all of you too… @aaratiduttshahwriter @shashantshah @kriteyu ❤️I have known this beautiful young mind almost all his life… watched him grow up alongside my son, and over time, watched his words grow gentler, deeper, and astonishingly perceptive.Somewhere along the way came messages asking, “Are you up for a poem?” and of course, I always was. And those poems would stay with me long after reading them.Around the same time, whenever we met, I would share my own evolving world of sketches and paintings. What always touched me was the care with which he engaged with them… spending time with each piece, speaking about what moved him, choosing favourites, and sometimes even wanting to take a few home as keepsakes… something that always meant so much to me. And now, somehow, our worlds meet inside the pages of this book… and on its cover.Seeing my artwork accompany these words feels incredibly meaningful, and it has been made even more special by sharing this creative space with someone I deeply admire as an artist, illustrator, architect, colleague, and friend… @anhugeAlways a pleasure, dear Anuj 🥂Some collaborations are not planned… they quietly grow over years of affection, encouragement, friendship, and shared ways of seeing the world.Happy Birthday, dear Bittu ❤️So proud of the heart you carry into the world, and so grateful to witness what I feel is only the beginning of a truly beautiful creative journey. The grid for #artvsartist tradition (this one’s my 4th) always feels like a dilemma for me. Not because I don’t want to share, but because choosing just 8 artworks from a year that holds 350 odd means deciding what stays & what gets left out.Looking back on this year, I feel deep gratitude for how my art practice expanded, deepened, and connected me with so many incredible creators.This year also saw the birth of two initiatives close to my heart.#thekeptfireproject shaped by a deep rooted urgency to make the unseen visible. Born out of witnessing extraordinary watercolor artists remain at the mercy of algorithms. It has been created as a space to acknowledge & celebrate the firekeepers, their quiet, steady dedication, & a reminder that consistency is a form of courage.#watercolorwisdomwednesdays also emerged from that same inner inquiry. A way to articulate the lessons watercolor keeps offering me, & to place them alongside life itself. What began as a personal exploration has now become a weekly ritual, about 15 weeks in, with many more still unfolding. The wisdom here is not just for watercolor, but for living with patience, trust, & presence.This year saw me agree to more collaboration. Besides the Art Prompt Parade & being invited to join the fine ladies on #paintyourstyle2025 as co host, I’m now part of 3 more wonderful art collabs on the #artcollabfamily that has challenged my process, & brought me into creative spaces that have felt generous and expansive.Every artwork I made this year carries a lesson, a question, or a moment of growth. And every bit of encouragement, every comment, message, and quiet presence reminded me why community matters so much and made this journey richer than I could have imagined.Thank you for walking alongside me through the experiments, discoveries, doubts, and joy.Wishing each of you a new year filled with creativity, connection, meaning, & inspiration in whatever form it chooses to arrive.With love & gratitude,Shraddha ☺️❤️🙌🏽🙏🏾 by @myidlemusings

It’s fascinating how a painting can receive compliments while the artist keeps apologising for it. Sometimes I wonder if artists ever get to see the same painting everyone else sees.While others notice the colours, the light, or the feeling it leaves behind, we’re still looking at the wash that dried too quickly, the brushstroke we’d change, the bloom that wasn’t meant to happen, or the tiny correction no one else will ever notice.Perhaps that’s because we aren’t just seeing the painting. We’re remembering the process.Life has a way of doing the same to us.When someone calls us confident, we remember every moment we doubted ourselves. When we’re praised for our success, we replay the failures that came before it. When people admire our calm, they never see the nights we lay awake worrying. Others meet the person standing before them… we keep meeting every version of ourselves it took to become that person.Maybe that’s why we’re often the last to recognise our own growth. Every watercolor artist learns that there are two ways to mix color.On the palette, every mixture is intentional. You decide what goes in, adjust the proportions, and create exactly what you had in mind.On the paper, something else happens. Water joins the conversation. Timing matters. The texture of the paper matters. The same two colors can meet in ways you could never have predicted. Some of the most beautiful mixtures aren’t engineered… they’re discovered.Life has lessons similar lessons!There are things we consciously choose: our education, our profession, the places we live, the goals we chase. And then there are the parts of us that no decision can create.Patience that arrives only after caring for someone who depends on you. Courage that quietly grows after surviving failure. Compassion that follows heartbreak. Perspective that only time can offer. Confidence earned by repeatedly showing up long before you felt ready.Knowledge can be taught. Wisdom has to meet experience. Perhaps that’s why watercolor feels so much like life.Some of the most beautiful things we’ll ever become aren’t the ones we planned.
