It’s surprising what can happen when two people find each other in the middle of something hard.

We met during parallel IVF journeys - years of fertility treatment, multiple cycles, waiting, loss, hope, and everything in between.

We didn’t set out to build anything. We were just trying to survive it.

Looking back, we wish there had been one place we could come back to - where information, reassurance, and practical tools lived together, instead of being scattered across endless tabs, searches, and late-night scrolling.

✨My IVF Buddy is a space for people navigating fertility and IVF - where we will bring together honest experiences, practical guidance, helpful tools, and support from people who truly understand the journey.

Here on Instagram we’ll be sharing what we learned along the way, things we’re still learning, useful information and research we come across, and creating a space for solidarity and understanding for anyone going through fertility treatment.

Behind the scenes, we’re also building the kind of resource we wish we’d had when we were going through it.

I struggled for years to know when I was ovulating, even with all the usual tracking tools.

After reading about red light therapy, my partner and I decided to add it to our fertility routines. I used 830 nm near-infrared light, while he used 670 nm red light.

The biggest change for me was simply feeling more in tune with my body. I started noticing clearer cycle patterns and felt much more aware of when ovulation might be happening.

We also found the emerging research around egg and sperm health, blood flow, inflammation and cellular energy really interesting — which is why we wanted to share what we learned, alongside our own experience.

💗 Infertility doesn’t clock out when you clock in.

This week, we’re supporting @nationalfertilityawarenessweek, led by @fertility.action, and today’s theme is Fertility at Work.

We wanted to shine a light on this one because it’s something we know all too well.

The injections taken in office toilets. The medication hidden in the shared fridge. The annual leave used for scans, blood tests and egg collections.

The phone calls that change your whole day. The tears quickly wiped away before the next meeting. The excuses made because you’re not ready for everyone to know.

We remember what it felt like to carry on with a normal working day when everything in our personal lives felt anything but normal.

And that’s why this conversation matters.

Because infertility isn’t just something that happens outside working hours. And fertility treatment isn’t simply a few appointments you can neatly fit around your diary.

For many, it’s a second, invisible job. One filled with uncertainty, appointments, medication, waiting, hope and sometimes heartbreak.

We know not everyone feels comfortable telling their employer or colleagues what they’re going through. And that’s a deeply personal decision.

But we do believe workplaces can do more to make that journey a little easier.

A little flexibility. A little privacy. A manager who listens without judgement. Support without having to explain every detail.

Sometimes the smallest acts of understanding can make the biggest difference. 💗

So today, we’re adding our voices to Fertility Action’s #fertilityunfiltered campaign, to help make the invisible visible.

Another thing we didn’t realise when we first started IVF… there isn’t just one way to prepare for a frozen embryo transfer! 🤍

IVF comes with a whole new language, and sometimes it feels like we’re constantly learning something new.

We thought we’d share a little of what we’ve learnt about the different FET approaches, and why a clinic might suggest one over another.

Halloween can feel a little different when you’re going through infertility. 🎃

Seeing little ones dressed up, families heading out trick-or-treating, and imagining what it might be like to share those moments with a child of your own one day.

It’s one of those little things you might never have expected to hurt.

We remember that feeling. The wondering, the hoping, and the quiet sadness that can come with occasions like today.

Forget the flattering photos… suddenly it’s all about follicle counts, lining thickness and blood results. 🥹

Who knew we’d become so invested in numbers and measurements we’d barely heard of before IVF?

And when so much hope is riding on those results, we know just how much good news can mean.

But as much as we find ourselves obsessing over those numbers, it’s worth remembering that they don’t tell the whole story or define how our journey will unfold. 💗

It’s difficult. And unless you’ve been through it, it can be hard to explain just how much it affects you.

“Unexplained infertility.” Two words that can leave you with more questions than answers. 💗

When we were told our infertility was unexplained, we assumed that meant everything had been checked.

We trusted the process. We followed the advice. We kept going.

But looking back, there were things we wish we’d known to ask about sooner.

Things that weren’t necessarily part of the initial investigations. Things we didn’t even know existed.

And when you’re already exhausted from appointments, injections, waiting and disappointment, the last thing you want is to feel like you have to become your own fertility detective.

One of the biggest things we learned during our journey was just how different clinics and their approaches can be.

Sometimes, asking more questions, reviewing previous investigations or getting a second opinion can help you better understand your options.

Because unexplained shouldn’t mean the end of the investigation. ❤️

Someone once asked me what IVF was actually like.

They didn’t know much about it, and I remember not knowing where to even start.

There was so much I could have said that somehow I couldn’t find the words for any of it.

So I massively simplified it. I talked about the injections, appointments, scans… all the practical stuff.

Because how do you explain everything else that’s going on in your head at the same time?

I think unless you’ve been through it, IVF can be really hard to put into words. 🤍

We talk a lot about what IVF was like for us, but perhaps not enough about what it was like for our partners. 🤍

They found it hard too.

They had their own tests, appointments and results to worry about. They felt the pressure to get healthier, change their diets, take the supplements and wonder whether there was anything else they could be doing.

And while dealing with all of that, they were supporting us too.

Waiting for the calls. Counting the embryos. Holding us when things went wrong. Trying to stay strong when they were scared themselves.

Looking back, we probably didn’t always realise how much they were carrying.

They wanted those babies too.

So while it’s important to ask her how she’s doing…

ask HIM how he’s doing too. 🤍
