Nice hike to do about any time of year as long as you pick a sun-kissed kind of day. Love this spot x5 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

Celebrating 30years of Endtroducing 💗

Last night I was blessed to see DJ Shadow performing this tour live for the first time. His album Endtroducing came out when I was 15 years old and honestly has likely helped shape my life in some way or another ✨

RIDE OR DIE ⚡️
WATERSPRITE ANNIVERSARY TRIP ⛈️
18.21KM ~ 719M

This weekend Tara and I ventured out for our 3rd year anniversary backpack up to Watersprite. The weather forecasted heavy rain for the Thursday and Friday and we had two nights booked. Poor Tara gave me the easy out a couple days before but I was optimistic the rain would hold out for us. Boy was I wrong 😢 We got up there just in time to beat the rain but eventually had to setup and try to cook our dinner in a freaking windstorm. My tent almost blew away. Then Shaggy and I barely slept hanging on to each other wondering if we were going to survive the night.

We woke on the Friday already deciding we were only going to spend one night up there. The morning cleared up for a couple minute quick view of the beauty of the place to a quick scramble to the bottom in heavy rain. We took bets on how many people we would see on the way up and we saw one camp host coming up who rode up on a motorcycle and a couple who were more daring than us because they were about to venture up on the Friday in the middle of all the heavy rain. I felt kind of crazy until seeing more die hard backpackers wanting one last trip for the season. I don’t blame anyone for wanting to get out there ☝🏼🥾⛺️

ELFIN LAKES BACKPACK 🧚🏼‍♀️🥾
20.95km ~ 806m

Blueberries, black bears and fall colours were the theme of last weekends backpacking trip to Elfin Lakes at Garibaldi. The weather forecasted rain for most of the trip but instead we were blessed with blue skies and sun on our faces.

This is our first time hiking up to Elfin Lakes and boy was it one of the busiest backcountry sites we’ve ever stayed at. The hike up to the campground is fairly moderate and the about 35 tent pads can also be accessed by bicycles making this a pretty popular place. I foraged for wild blueberries on my way up for morning oatmeal and the morning sunrises were to die for. This is definitely a place we are going to come back to and I have some day hiking to look forward too 💗

BREAKFAST IN BED ON A MOUNTAIN 😋
….WELL ALMOST ~ BC PARKS DAY 💗
BACKPACKING WEDGEMOUNT LAKE - 18.5KM/1,326M

Last weekend Tara and I did our toughest backpack yet. First off this crazy girl booked back to back backpacks after coming home from Berg Lake and my crazy friend Tara agreed to come. I’m not sure what came over me booking this backpack. I have been up to Wedgemout twice as a day hike and always dreamed of camping over night but let me tell you this one is a freaking challenge and not everyone makes it.

We booked two nights. No way were we climbing this elevation for a one nighter 🤦🏻‍♀️ it was a gruelling two step all the way up but you will never believe it we freaking made it. I AM SO PROUD OF US 💗
This trail is crazy steep. Full of tangly roots. And has a vertical climb at the end that you would not believe. I think our saving grace was the mild weather and the chance of rain. When we reached the top the fog was so socked in we couldn’t see the lake and it was hard choosing our campsites. Off to sleep early on our first night only to be woken by rangers early evening checking for permits and inviting us to breakfast in the morning. WOOT! WOOT!

July 18 was BC Parks day and the rangers made us chocolate and blueberry pancakes with coffee on top of the mountain. The closest version of breakfast in bed in my mind. This breakfast is going to be tough to beat.

Later that day the fog kept on and wind picked up causing me to freeze my butt off. I underdressed for this trip trying to keep my weight down. Learned the hard way….I need gloves and layers regardless of time of year. Boohoo 🥶 On our last day the sun came out and we finally had amazing views and you would never believe how cold it was just 24hours earlier. Putting our time in with the hiking gods on this one☝🏼

BERG LAKE TRAIL ⚡️ ME & TARA
DAY 5 & 6 - MARMOT CAMPGROUND TO KINNEY LAKE CAMPGROUND TO BERG LAKE TRAILHEAD - 20.33KM/387M

On day 5 we woke up to thick fog as it rained all night and it was freezing. We slept in as long as we could to stay warm and started our hike down. We weren’t sure what our plans were…we had our last night booked back at Kinney Lake and if the weather turned for the worse we considered hiking all the way out.

Hehehe regardless of weather I don’t know if we would have made it out in one go. Our packs were still feeling heavy even though we ate most of our food and my foot was painfully sore and I could not shake it. Luckily we didn’t have to even think about it as the hiking god clear skies came back out for us 🌞 And we spent the night at Kinney Lake hiking out the last kms morning of day 6.

We spent 6 days and 5 nights out on the Berg Lake trail in Mount Robson Provincial Park and conquered 80KM of trail and 3,175M of elevation. WOOT WOOT ☝🏼

I AM FEELING FULL SWEET FRIEND 💖 THANK YOU FOR MAKING TIME IN YOUR LIFE TO GO ON OUR ADVENTURES WITH ME @tlmr
Thank you too @clint_knuckle_buster for being so supportive 🤗

BERG LAKE TRAIL 🌧️🥾🏔️
DAY 4 - REARGUARD CAMPGROUND TO MARMOT CAMPGROUND & HARGREAVES LOOKOUT/TOBOGGAN FALLS DAY HIKE - 12.69KM/623M

We woke up to rain on the fourth morning and had a short backpack from Rearguard campground to Marmot campground. By the time we reached the Hargreaves cabin around the lake the rain had cleared up and we could see blue skies headed our way for the afternoon. Woot! Woot! Insert cheer here!

Since we had the shortest of backpacks today we planned on doing one of the day hikes after we quickly got setup. Fortunately we also got the loveliest campsite at Marmot too ♥️

Our options for a day hike were either to take the slow and steady climb starting at Marmot to the Hargreaves lookout trail or to go straight up the grind at Berg lake and then have an easy decent down. We chose the slow and steady which turned into a non-stop climb all the way up. A few times we got off trail and ended up on some steep slopes which with the added wind factor of the day turned into a hair-raising adventure. Thankfully we had some of the best Birds Eye views of Berg lake and Mount Robson and were even blessed with seeing Tara’s first porcupine (I’ve only ever seen one before) 😍

BERG LAKE TRAIL ❄️
DAY 3 - SNOWBIRD PASS TRAIL - 19KM/862M

On day 3 Tara and I took separate day hikes and she went to the Mount Robson Jasper Park border and I took the Snowbird Pass Route.

I left early and in hindsight maybe should have left earlier but I don’t know if that would have solved the problem. Let me tell you. This is one of the top freaking nicest hikes I have done in my life but also one of the scariest. The exposure, elevation, scree and scrambling added with snow crossings made this feel like one of the most dangerous solo hikes I have ever done.
Solo hiking in new areas is also on its own level. And with every turn & climb of elevation on the way up my anxiety of how I was going to get back down was rising (lol no joke).

Since I started this hike early I did catch up to two people on my way up about halfway who happened to also be going to the top but after passing them and then being the only one out there for kms my gut feeling quickly returned. I did one scary snow crossing that I had to shimmy down sideways since the sun melted the other side and then within 200ft from the top of the saddle I made a safety call to return to camp for the time planned to meet up with Tara since there was no cell reception. Unfortunately I did not reach the saddle to see the Coleman glacier on the Alberta side.

So sad on the way down I ran into the couple coming up after about 20mins and I realized how close I was to the top and that their actually were a couple of crazy people out there like me 😮‍💨 I am so proud of how far I climbed and love every moment of my journey but….
SNOWBIRD PASS I’M COMING BACK FOR YOU☝🏼♥️😘
