I’ve taken multiple “solo trips” and I’m not stopping anytime soon. My first time in Brooklyn was one of my favorite trips, and I was only there for a day and a half. If you’re not really a “solo outing” type of person but have thought about becoming one, I’d say start small. If you’ve never gone to the movies by yourself, do it. If you haven’t gone to a concert by yourself, do it. If you’ve never eaten at a restaurant by yourself, do it.

Pro tip: You know that restaurant you could never get into because it’s always packed, and you keep trying to book a table “with friends”? Fuck them friends. Walk in that mothafucka by yourself and you can probably get a seat at the bar to finally enjoy that restaurant😭 I know having company can make things more comfortable, but true and full living is outside of your comfort zone.

And the truth is, we learn more about ourselves the more we do things by ourselves. There’s also just a certain peace that comes with experiencing things solo.
Doing what you want, when you want. Not waiting on other people. Not hearing somebody complain about this or that. You’re just enjoying your own company. And depending on what you’re doing, you might even meet some great people along the way who make you feel a little less alone.
That can make a trip, an experience, or even a random Tuesday night-out that much more rewarding.

So do yourself a favor: pick one place, one event, one city, or one occasion and embrace all of it. The joy, the awkwardness, the uncertainty, the discomfort.
