POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

As a 24-year-old Cypriot @mynextgetaway , I grew up hearing stories about the ghost town of Famagusta. From my grandparents, to the news, to politicians, Varosha has always been a place connected to memories, loss, and a history that is still felt today.

Before 1974, Varosha was one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region, visited by people from around the world. During the Turkish Invasion of 1974, its residents fled their homes and never returned. Since then, the city has remained a symbol of the unresolved Cyprus problem.

Walking through its empty streets was a powerful experience. Behind the abandoned buildings are the stories of families, communities, and lives that were unlawfully interrupted.

As a Cypriot, I hope that one day our island can move toward peace, understanding, and a future where people can live without division. 🇨🇾 ☮️

You’ve probably never heard of Elburg! 🇳🇱👀

This charming little town has fewer than 30,000 residents and is just about an hour from Amsterdam. 🏘️✨

You’ve probably heard of Brussels, Bruges and Ghent, but what about this Belgian city in the Ardennes? 🇧🇪👀

Dinant is a small city with colourful houses, dramatic cliffs and the beautiful Meuse River running right through it. 🏘️⛰️

Definitely one of the most underrated places to visit in Belgium! 🇧🇪✨
