My heart is BURSTING with love for the experience we just had and, even more so, the incredible people we got to share it with. 🥹❤️‍🔥

LDP has been held on Lake Don Pedro, tucked away in a secluded cove, for the past 28 years… and it’s so clear that every single year, they find ways to dial everything in even more. From the sound, the people, and the decor to every big and little detail in between, everything is so thoughtfully curated and intentional. With fewer than 100 people each year, it’s incredibly intimate. By the end, you don’t just know every single person there… you get to call them FAMILY.

I was lucky enough to meet this incredible community just a couple of months after moving to Oakland in 2015. I remember thinking I had hit the absolute JACKPOT finding these people so soon after relocating from Denver.

At the time, I was 25 years old, newly single, and (in the words of Danny Ross) BUCKWILD! HAHAHA. I was fully unprepared in pretty much every way and was told I could figure out sleeping arrangements when I got there. 🤣 If you know me now, you know how SO out of character that is. These days, I’m the MOST prepared person for just about any experience, and I’m pretty sure back then I packed a few bathing suits and barely any other clothes. LMAO. I managed to find random corners of boats and couches to crash on whenever I needed to pass out. Luckily, everyone lovingly took me in like a stray cat, and I’ve been grateful for that ever since. 😹

There are SO many moments I remember from that year (and plenty that I probably don’t LOL), but one that has always stuck with me was talking to Nicole Fowler about the history of LDP and her beautiful marriage to John ‘Justin Hale’ Fowler. I remember hearing about their relationship and thinking how badly I wanted to find what they had someday. 🥹

FAST-FORWARD TO 2025…

By this point, I had bought a house, gotten married, and evolved A WHOLE LOT. At Paul’s memorial last April, Austen and I decided we would be joining everyone at the lake that year, and I was SO excited to share this magical experience with my King. 👑
