#Teaching #students with severe and profound disabilities is one of the greatest honors of my life. These children become so much more than students…they become family. We celebrate every smile, every small victory, every milestone that others may take for granted. We learn their personalities, their favorite songs, their unique ways of communicating, and we love them fiercely.

What many people don’t see is the heartbreak that can come with this calling. These past few days, my heart has been heavy as I learned of the passing of one of my precious students. There is a unique pain that comes when a child you have cared for, advocated for, taught, and loved is no longer here.

In #severeandprofound education, we often walk alongside families through challenges, hospitalizations, therapies, and uncertainties. We share in their hopes and prayers. When loss comes, it leaves a space in our hearts.

Today, I am reminded that our job is about so much more than academics. It is about relationships, love, dignity, and making every day count. I am grateful for every moment I had with this sweet child and for the lessons they taught me about resilience, joy, and unconditional love.

My prayers are with this family and everyone who loved this child. Though their time here was far too short, their impact will remain forever. This student will always be remembered, always be loved, and always be part of our classroom family.

Fly high, sweet child. You were deeply loved. You are playing with #Jesus now, running around laughing.
