This is our story, proof that non-traditional weddings and marriages can thrive. You don’t need to follow traditional rules to build a strong, lasting partnership.

Fourteen years ago, we were young and in love, ready to take on the world together. We built our careers side by side. But life had other plans. While traveling constantly for work, we discovered I was pregnant.

We decided to move from Montreal/Ottawa to Alberta to be closer to family and sponsor my parents from the 🇵🇭Philippines to come to🇨🇦Canada. A few months before I was due, we had a civil wedding with just a few close family members, bought our rings, and that was it.

We purchased our first house, the home we still live in today, knowing my goal was to bring my family from the Philippines.

Navigating postpartum and becoming first-time parents, everything was a blur. But we kept going, building multiple businesses with a baby on my hip, through late nights and countless challenges.

This wasn’t just a proposal, it symbolized how far we’d come and the sacrifices we’d made to get here.

My love, I said yes again and again. I always have, and I always will.

The truth? Most people don’t miss out on their dreams because they lack talent. They miss out because they refuse to take imperfect action. They wait until they feel “100% ready” but readiness is an illusion built by fear.

When you shift from self-doubt to self-belief, the entire game changes:

- Failure stops being an identity. It just becomes data.

- Boundaries get easier. You stop trading your peace for approval.

- The pedestal disappears. You realize the people winning around you aren’t inherently special they just stopped waiting for permission.

You don’t need a map. You just need to take the first messy step.
