The Hidden Seed (The Dot) The small white dot inside the dark Yin swirl signifies that Yin contains the seed of Yang. This means total darkness is never absolute; rest contains the potential for action, winter contains the promise of spring, and hardship can lead to growth and insight. Knowing this, I can now go back to sleep. Same to you. #💤 #YinYang #TheBigYin #SleeplessNights #MyLoveIsYang by @myriamtorfs
Wandering through the cemetery on All Souls’ Day (November 2) is a quiet, contemplative tradition. This resting place could almost be mine. She’s a Miriam, yin/yang and must have loved pebbles in her lifetime. #Grafzerkje #StoneAngels #WeatheredGravestones #AutumnLeaves #Connection by @myriamtorfs
I declare my husband Jan an omnist saint today. Saint John, only saint holding onto the blessed, harmless wine. My patron saint, my guardian angel, my protector, my everything. #AllSaintsDay #ReligiousSyncretism #InMemoriam #WhatAMan #AMightyGoodMan by @myriamtorfs

The incuriousness, the boredom, the disinterest, the neutrality of people saddens me so. We are alive. We can see the wonders of it all and enjoy a beautiful fall weekend. Except those who lost their loved ones in the Toledo Train Tragedy, in all the wars, crashes, fires, floods and sicknesses. My deepest sympathy. #TheLoveOfWords #Incuriousness #Chrysanthemums #SamediQuelqueChose #Compassion by @myriamtorfs
On her birthday, today 96 years ago, I was reading Niki de Saint Phalle’s bio and never knew that in childhood she suffered severe beatings from her mother and sexual abuse from her father. She revealed that her father had raped her when she was 11. Amazing how she transformed her trauma into such joyful and radiant art. Merci beaucoup, merci pour tout. You can see her work at the Kunspalast in Düsseldorf until 7 February. #IMNikideSaintPhalle #JeanTinguely #LesNanas #NikiCharitableArtFoundation #Love by @myriamtorfs

Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (1839-1892) at the Van Gogh Museum. A nice name to pronounce. Yoshitoshi. #TsukiokaYoshitoshi by @myriamtorfs

Charmed by the slogan of this gourmet supermarket in Madrid. There’s a huge collection of reusable bags that travel the world from friend to friend. I have been saving bags for years and sometimes find them hard to let go. #ReusableBags #SupermarketSlogans #SanchezRomero #PassingOnStuff #EnamorateDeLoBueno by @myriamtorfs
