On December 13, the Laboratory of New Media at the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theatre is celebrating its 10-year anniversary. Over the past decade, what started as an educational experiment has grown into a community of artists and curators whose work takes part in major Russian and international media art festivals. This anniversary is a moment to look back — and to look forward with fresh energy. “The Myth of Prometheus” is exactly about that: a complex conversation with the future that we’re already building today. Is our dependence on technology a new kind of mythological punishment? Is the fear of artificial intelligence really fear of an external threat — or fear of our own vulnerability? The new piece from the Laboratory of New Media team reimagines the ancient myth of Prometheus through the lens of the modern tech world. The performance invites you to think about questions like: What are the consequences of total reliance on technology? Who is responsible in a world run by tech?
