“Pink goes good with green” 🩷💚

We still can’t believe everything that has happened this weekend. Cosmo was awarded 🥇two Best in Open Shows🥇 which gave him enough points to finish his ✨AKC Certificate of Merit✨ or CM. For those less familiar with the CM, the breeds who are on their way to gaining full AKC breed recognition earn a Certificate of Merit, akin to a championship title. Although we won’t have the “CH” in Cosmo’s official name, this CM feels extra special. It takes 10 CMs in a breed (among many things) to progress in AKC recognition, and Cosmo will be the 5th Jindo to have achieved the CM. We are so honored to be part of this breed history.

Teach an older dog new tricks 🐰
-
With Julie’s 5th or 6th birthday approaching next week, we’re taking this time to celebrate Julie’s newest TKP (Trick Dog Performer) title!

When we adopted this little street dog, she was estimated to be 2-3 years old and knew a few commands in Korean. But today, we reflect on this past one year of learning 40 tricks that led to this title.

Although Julie is neither senior dog nor puppy, I definitely want to encourage skeptics that they can certainly teach an older/adult dog new tricks. Plus, it’s a lot of fun!

TY @azukirbybean for the trick eval and feedback!

Can you name these hobbies? 🐇

I feel like I’ve had hundreds of hobbies in my lifetime. But sharing my hobbies with my best friend and dog partner, Julie, has been the most fun and fulfilling. Dog sports have been the single best thing for our relationship and training. Highly recommend trying it out if you haven’t yet!

Happy Global Running Day
from my favorite run club 🐕

So excited to be running my first half marathon in exactly a decade! It’ll be so different from those youthful days I would sign up for things, not need to train, and pull all nighters on race days 😆. And now that I’m getting older, I need a training schedule and to be really really mindful to not get injured. Unfortunately none of my friends secured a bib to the Nike After Dark Tour so lmk if you’re signed up too!

Thank you to @jindos.kjdaa for the special rosette commemorating Cosmo (Huicheol of Yooshin) as the 5th Jindo to earn the AKC CM. I’ve never seen a norigae on a rosette before and it’s so pretty 🦋 by @mytreasuredpack

It’s been a hot minute (or year ☀️), but we’ve touched snow, a looot of flowers, and maybe some 🪧🚫👑🚫🧊🚫💥 this weekend.

Dogdad is living in pokopia world and we learned this year that Julie is deffo not an ice type. What poke-types would your animals be? Anyone else hooked on pokopia? by @mytreasuredpack

So inspired by everyone who raced Hyrox in Cali this weekend that Dogdad said he’d sign up for mixed doubles with me.

I’m skeptical I could train for the higher weight class of mixed doubles, so we did dumb things and used our dogs as sandbags bc they’re both somehow the perfect weights (Cosmo = 20kg, Julie = 10kg). Cosmo went with the flow and Julie was handsomely rewarded for her participation.

My legs felt and shaked like jelly while lunging since we just got back from a 7 mile run. It tested my fatigue. Realistically I don’t think I’m quite ready to train for mixed doubles 20kg weighted lunges for 50-100m yet. Perhaps I’ll need to find a women’s doubles partner.

@eastsea_brother a day keeps the doctor away 🐟✨

Ok ok, I made that one up. But both our GP and rehab vet emphasize the power of omega-3s for dogs, especially for Julie who was diagnosed with luxating patella years ago. Omega-3s from therapeutic fish oils and whole foods like seafood can help reduce inflammation in Julie’s knee, which eases pain and stiffness. In fact, it’s our vets’ top recommendation for Julie in terms of supplement and diet as research shows more consistent results than the otc glucosamine or collagen supplements.

What makes Eastsea Brother treats special? They are semi dried with a patented process that keeps them fresh, squishy, and shelf stable. Basically the closest you can get to fresh fish in treat form 🫧. Best part is that Julie thinks they are delicious!

Thank you @eastseabrother.global for our favorite treats (#gifted but very much adored and loved). Anything to keep our dogs happy, healthy, and springy. by @mytreasuredpack

Today is the last day to check out @eastseabrother.global ‘s booth (#7170) at @superzooshow’s!

Experience the boat they made and quality of seafood treats in person (ethically fished and imported from 🇰🇷). The airport seized their product for a few days and they finally just got it back and now have it at the booth 🥹.

I’m in such awe of their hard work, craftsmanship, and commitment to their values… all for our pets 💙.

Come say hi to Julie as well 🐾. Just a little rescue dog from Jeju-do South Korea making it all the to #superzoo and meeting so so many people! taken in SUPERZOO, by WPA by @mytreasuredpack

It feels like I don’t have significant updates on the dogs these days. But in the past few months, Cosmo passed all five recommended OFA/Pennhip health tests (cardiac, eyes, patella, hips, thyroid)! My feed has been filled with Cosmo lately because, look at him, he’s such a good model. But more Julie content coming soon bc we’ll be on our way to superzoo for the first time! Let us know if you’re going or have any tips to survive it.
